Have you ever been to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 SCOTLAND? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 If the answer is yes, I KNOW you’ll be desperate to come back. And if the answer is no? You won’t want to pass up this opportunity to tick it off your bucket list! ✅ With six nights and seven days in the small city of Aberdeen, you’ll have the opportunity to see what Scotland has to offer - all without having to take a single day’s annual leave from your remote work! 💻 I might be biased…but I think Scotland is the most beautiful nation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain 🇬🇧, and I'd love it for you to come away from this trip thinking the same. 🌊 Let’s start with a little bit about me...hello! My name is Morven, I’m 22 years old, and I grew up in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. I studied Molecular Biology 🧬 at the University of Aberdeen and now live in Edinburgh. I’ve had “The Travel Bug” ✈️ for many years now, although due to personal circumstances and the global pandemic, only got the chance to realise how severe a case I had last summer, with more than five trips in the space of five months! I have since realised that full time, contracted work is not for me, and am instead juggling several zero hours contracts as well as freelance work in childcare - the field I have worked in for over five years. Although I one day would like to return to science and complete my PhD 📚, I am currently making the most of having almost no concrete ties in my life! Full disclosure that this is the first 🥇 trip I have organised on JoinMyTrip (although I have previously island hopped solo in Greece, and been the main planner of most of my trips with friends and family), so there might be a couple of bumps on the road, although I’m trying to keep things as simple as possible (whilst still creating an exciting trip) to minimise these! However, be assured that Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are areas that I know very well…22 years of life in the place have got to count for something! I'm looking for four TripMates to join me in this adventure who are looking for a relatively chilled week of co-working, although you are also more than welcome to join if you don't work from home and just want to use the free time to explore the area. I am looking to plan four key activities (arrival day, two evenings and departure day), with the possibility of adding in other smaller activities on other evenings, before work or in lunch breaks, if this suits the needs and wishes of my fellow travellers. How to get there? Aberdeen is well-connected by plane ✈️, train 🚂 and bus 🚌. Flights are available from many major British airports, including London Gatwick, Belfast and Manchester, as well as several international airports, including Dublin and Amsterdam. A direct train route connects the city to London, York and Newcastle, with both direct train and bus routes also running to the other major Scottish cities. If you need any help to find, booking or otherwise arranging your transport, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! 📞 Wherever you arrive in Aberdeen, the bus ticket included in the cost of this trip will provide a direct bus link (running approximately every 20 minutes during the day) to the accommodation. From the airport, a 25-minute journey on the 727 bus will drop you off a 15-minute walk from your final destination. From the train or bus stations, a mere 10-minute journey will take you almost to the front door! And don’t worry about getting lost - I will be on hand to collect you from wherever you arrive, whenever you get there. 🗺️ The trip commences on Sunday, and you can check in as early or as late as you like. However, the earlier ⏰ you check in, the more time you have to settle in before a new working week…and the more time we have to explore! If transport doesn’t fit, check in might be possible on Saturday, or check out might be possible on Sunday, at a small additional fee - get in touch, and I’ll see what I can do! I’d love to give a Campus Tour on Sunday, as well as have some icebreaker 🧊 activities, so we can all get to know each other a little bit better. About the accommodation: Every TripMate will have their own room with a single bed, storage and workspace 💻 (PIC 2). We will share a bathroom 🚽, kitchen 👩🏽‍🍳 (PIC 7) and living space 🛋️ (PIC 6). During term time, our accommodation (PIC 8) serves as student accommodation, so I am very confident the WiFi 📶 will hold up to all of our co-working needs! As I previously mentioned, Aberdeen is a relatively small city, with almost everything within walking🚶🏽‍♀️distance. There is both a Tesco Express 🛍️ and a pharmacy 💊 within 10 minutes walk, and a Lidl within 15 minutes walk. The City Centre is about 30 minutes on foot, or 10 minutes by bus, with lots of choice of restaurants, pubs and bars. 🍽️🧉 Check out is on Saturday, again at any time (although if you are staying later you might have to make way for cleaners changing towels and linens). I said it above, but I’ll say it again here - if transport doesn’t fit, check in might be possible on Saturday, or check out might be possible on Sunday, at a small additional fee - get in touch, and I’ll see what I can do! I’m sure by this point we’ll all be great friends and reluctant to part ways, so I’d love to finish our co-working trip with another group activity. I understand you might be reluctant or unable to stray too far from Aberdeen on what may be a lengthy day of travel, so I think an easy walk-up Broad Hill with panoramic views of the beach and city would be perfect! 🌆 Included in the trip price: - 6 nights accommodation (as detailed above) - Unlimited travel on Stagecoach buses 🚌 for the 7 days of the trip You are responsible for arranging and paying for your own return transport, however if I can help with this at all, please do let me know. I don’t anticipate there to be any further costs beyond that of food and drink - to keep things simple, we will all pay into a shared pot of money at the start of the trip, with any money leftover being redistributed at the end of the trip. The cost of this will depend on whether we choose to stay in and cook meals, order takeaways, or go out to restaurants…or perhaps a combination of the three! With all the fundamentals down…why would you want to choose to join me on this trip? Where will your memories be? Because, let’s face it, they won’t be made at your desk! Outwith your 9-5 (assuming these working hours and operating in the BST time zone - let me know if this isn't the case!), I’m hoping to plan two highlight trips, likely on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. At the moment, I plan for these to be to Balmedie Beach 🌊 (PIC 5) and New Slains Castle 🏰 (PIC 4), both of which would come at no further expense to you, however these are subject to change. In addition, we are within walking distance of Aberdeen Beach 🌊 (PIC 1), Aberdeen City Centre 🌆, Seaton Park 🌳…not forgetting being situated on the historic University of Aberdeen Campus 🎓 (PIC 3) itself! These provide ample opportunities to explore without being too far from home - meaning people can join later if work runs over, or ditch early if they need a bit more rest. And that's it! Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in this trip or if you have any questions. I can't wait for my first JoinMyTrip TripLeader experience, and look forward to having the opportunity to share my region of the world with you and your fellow TripMates! Please note that the video below shows many more locations than it is possible to visit in a week, especially around our work commitments! However, I hope it showcases well my beautiful region of the world.

Aberdeen

Day 1-7
Your 7 day bus 🚌 ticket (included in the trip cost) gives you the opportunity to explore the WHOLE of Aberdeenshire - so if you feel like using a day’s annual leave, or perhaps you don’t work a full week, you have the chance to go out on your own, too! Let me know if you do plan to do this and would be keen for myself or your fellow TripMates to join you, or if you’d like some advice or inspiration. 💡 I’d be more than happy to help! Some towns/villages in Aberdeenshire which are relatively easy (if sometimes slightly lengthy) to reach by bus include: - Ellon/Mintlaw/Fraserburgh - Balmedie/Newburgh/Cruden Bay/Peterhead - Oldmeldrum/Fyvie/Turriff/Banff - Blackburn/Kintore/Inverurie - Petercutler/Banchory/Aboyne/Ballatar/Braemar - Westhill/Alford - Stonehaven/Montrose/Arbroath And some activities/attractions you might want to investigate include: - Going to the theatre or an event 🎭 - Walking/hiking 🥾 - Beaches and coastlines 🏖️ - Castles 🏰

Balmedie Beach

Day 7
One of two longer evening trips I have planned - for Tuesday and Thursday evenings. From VisitScotland: “Balmedie is a flat sandy beach with sand dunes to the rear of the beach. Explore miles of beautiful flat sandy beach, located only 5 miles from Aberdeen. You can walk either north or south for several miles. Access is via the car park along board walks, through the dunes to the beach. Facilities also include a ranger centre, toilets and shops.” Please note the evening trips are subject to change depending on the needs of the group.

Slains Castle

Day 7
The second of two longer evening trips I have planned - for Tuesday and Thursday evenings. From VisitABDN: “On the coast of Cruden Bay lie the remains of Slains Castle. The original castle has been reconstructed may times since its construction in 1597 by the Earl of Erroll. The ruin you see today is the inevitable result of the castle’s location and various misfortunes becoming the owners over time. The owners, the Earls of Errol, were an influential family in the Cruden Bay area for many years and prospered after William Hay (the 18th Earl of Errol) married the daughter of King William IV. Overtime the Hays fell upon hard times and in 1919 the castle and contents were sold to Sir John Ellerman. He gave up the castle in 1925 and the roof was removed to avoid paying taxes. The castle is famous for many reasons, partly because it was a place where celebrities were entertained on numerous occasions in the 19th Century. Most notable being, Bram Stoker and it is believed the castle is the inspiration for the setting of the tale in Count Dracula (1897). The Crown (2016 -) fans will also recognise Slains Castle. In Season 1 the castle stood in for Castle Mey when the Queen Mother goes to Scotland.” Please note the evening trips are subject to change depending on the needs of the group.
