Guided trip
Hello traveler! Join our unique 5-day experience, thoughtfully curated by The Local Version, to guide you through a journey of Mexican culture as you've never experienced before. Merida, the safest city in all of Mexico, is also home to some of the best-preserved legacies of both the Mayan and the colonial worlds. The city is part of a natural paradise, located in a luscious and exuberant jungle near the Caribbean Sea, where the traces of the peak of Mayan civilization meet a colonial city full of color, famous for its picturesque architecture and emblematic haciendas, its unique cuisine, and distinctive cultural heritage from over a thousand years of history, still alive in fine ceramics, exquisitely embroidered clothes, ceremonial rituals, and mystic scenery. The Merida locals are famous all over the country for their warm and welcoming character, making them one of the city's most memorable traits, and a fundamental part of our experience. We partner with locals from all industries to offer you unique and authentic experiences in the most beautiful scenarios Merida has to offer. The trip covers all kinds of activities that will allow you to explore the different angles of this multifaceted city, from the ancient to the modern, leaving you with the satisfaction of knowing you reached deep into the heart of one of the most iconic cities in Mexico. You can expect a bit of everything, from dining in an 18th-century hacienda to wellness activities, cantinas and ceramics factories, mezcal tastings, galleries & studio visits, the Yucatan symphonic orchestra, and meditating inside a cenote guided by a local Mayan healer. We proudly guarantee 100% genuine experiences that truly represent the essence of this place and its people. The Local Version is a duo of sisters from Mexico City with an amazing background: Ana Isabel is an event and trip organizer, whose incredible network of contacts throughout Mexico makes her a one-of-a-kind specialist at connecting people with unique, authentic experiences, with a schedule perfectly designed by her to guarantee an in-depth immersion in Mexico, without you having to worry about a single detail. Her sister, Begoña, is an art historian whose experience ranges from owning a small gallery in downtown Mexico City to working for the biggest museums and collections in the country and currently holds the position of Cultural Promotion Director at Universidad Iberoamericana, one of Mexico's leading universities. Her passion for art, contagious charisma, and profound insight make her an invaluable companion in your journey through years of artistic evolution and history, specific to this region. For this trip, you will also have a Spanish teacher, Regina, who has a unique teaching style that combines a deep understanding of the language through philosophy, language history, and traditions, with neuroscience-based methods to guarantee actual learning of useful Spanish and must-knows for travelers.
