Japan is a land blest with abundant nature and beautiful culture. We would visit Tokyo, Yamanashi, Kyoto and Osaka. This tour will be for 10 days towards the end of this year and going into early next year, 2024. It's a compact and budget friendly quick trip while enjoying real Japan. This is the trip plan: At Tokyo, we will visit the Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo towers, Godzilla, Shibuya, the numerous shrines, the restaurants and churches and some lesser known beautiful places. In Yamanashi, we would primarily visit the Yamanakako from where we can catch the glimpse of the first sunrise of the new year, It's a tradition in Japan and start a magical year of hope and abundance. We would see other places and then move to Kyoto. In Kyoto - Kyoto Palace and Gyoen, Nishiki Market, Kinkakuji Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizudera Temple, Gion District, Arashiyama Bamboo Groves, Amanohashidate. From Kyoto, we would travel to Osaka, where we stop for one night and sight see the must-see places. We would depart back home from Kansai International Airport.

About me: I am your TripLeader Helen Xavier. I live in India and am a great fan of Japan, its history, culture and living. I have travelled to Shizuoka prefecture only thrice. The Place I stayed in was Iwata which a small industrial town, home to Automotive and Musical Intruments Factories and many other factories and industries. I worked as an interpreter and translator in an automotive company and was sent to Iwata on a work assignment. I converted it into a Bleasure trip and explored a lot of small and big places, walking most of the way. I love Japan and read about places, culture, history and practices. I have put together the best places for us to visit and carry back memories. I am sure you would surely book forthcoming thematic trips to Japan with me in the future

Accommodation: Capsule Hotels in Tokyo, cheaper than regular hotels. It will be an experience in itself where your capsule will just accommodate your sleep. You will be provided with lighting, air-conditioning, and come with common baths. There are separate floors for male and female guests. In Yamanashi we stay in a place from where we can see Mt Fuji from the rooms. Very close to Mt Fuji. In Kyoto, we would again stay in a hotel near the famous Fushimi Inari Temple and visit the blissful historic places and the Nishiki Market, which is fondly called Kyoto's Kitchen. But if you are vegetarian or vegan, I have other places away from Nishiki market. The market though sells few vegan ingredients and ice creams. Itinerary would help you understand what I mean. As the first sunrise of the new year is a must-watch, we would be also visiting the shrine where people gather to see the first temple visit. This happens from the midnight of 31 Dec to 3 January. So this unique experience with its natural aura of viewing along with eager crowds would be a memorable takeaway from this trip! In Osaka as well, we plan to stay in Dotoburi a huge shopping and eating district and visit a few places before we pack up to head home. Don't hesitate to reach out if this destination is on your bucket list or if you have any questions!

Trip Itinerary

Tokyo

Day 1-2
Tokyo is a huge metropolis with a combination of modern and the ancient mixed in a magical way. You see modernity draped in buildings, the people's dress, their lives and work and see lovely historic buildings, gardens and huge spaces with a lot of freedom. In Tokyo, we would be staying in Nine Hours Capsule Hotel just for a night and perhaps interact and get to know each other. The next day, till the afternoon, we can visit places, keeping purchases minimal. We will have a good sleep and get rid of jet lag to a certain extent before visiting 1 or two places of interest. The next day, we would visit a few places, like the Tokyo Sky tree, Tokyo Towers, places around Narita. Since, Tokyo is used as a stop to gather as a group, the timing allotted is very short.
2

Yamanashi

Day 2-4
Yamanashi along with Shizuoka and Chiba hosts Mt Fuji. This place is of special interest on the New Year's Day. Hence, This stop is added a special feature in this trip. We would leave Tokyo in late afternoon of Dec 31 and arrive at Yamanashi by train and reach Yamanashi in 2hrs and 41 mins. We would visit the Fuji Five Lakes (Fuji Goko in Japanese), Chureito Pagoda, Fuji Q Highland, Kachi Kachi Ropeway leisurely on the next day after viewing the first sunrise of the year. But the main highlight of it is the First Sunrise of the year, called the Hatsuhinode. The sunrises at around 6.30 am, and so we will leave the hotel in very early hours and travel to Yamanakako where we get the iconic view of the Diamond Fuji, when the sunrises and appears over Mount Fuji like a diamond. It would be a great experience being with natives on the occasion and experiencing the aura of the moments. You will surely never forget this experience and would wish to sign up again with me.
3

Osaka

Day 4-6
We would arrive in Osaka after finishing our Kyoto trip, by train after 42-min ride, on the evening of 4th Jan. We would stay in a hotel in Dotonburi which is called the Food Bowl of Japan. We would have dinner and visit the nearby place-Dotonburi and head back to the Hotel for a sleep. The next day would be the last day we would be together and visit Osaka Castle, Universal Studios, Umeda Sky Building, Shitenoji temple, Sumiyoshi temple and Aquarium Kaiyukan. On the 6th, we would depart to our home countries from Kansai International airport.
4

Kyoto

Day 6-8
We would leave Yamanashi early on 2nd Jan, 2024 and arrive at kyoto by train. The travel time would be 3 hrs 42 mins. we would arrive by early evening and check into a hotel near the fushimi Inari Shrine, the place with 1000 tori gates. Many places are nearby which we can begin visiting if we can. There are many markets and you can finish dinner. We would have been there for the full day on 3rd Jan and leave on 4th Jan. I plan to visit Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Kiyomizudera Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kinkakuji Temple. Kyoto Imperial Palace and Kyoto Gyoen, Nishiki Market called the Kitchen of Kyoto, Ryouanji Temple and gardens. It will be a quick trip starting from the farthest to the nearest and returning to the hotel.
