The Indonesian archipelago is a collection of islands that holds untold treasures in its diversity of cultures, landscapes, and cities. With more than 17,000 islands under its jurisdiction, Indonesia offers an adventure and attractions for everyone, from exploring ancient temples and hiking active volcanoes to diving in largely untouched waters. You can wander the busy streets of Jakarta, or take a step back in time with a visit to the remote villages of Tana Toraja, indulge in the bliss of Bali, or come face to face with the volatile Anak Krakatau. Monkey Forest

Day 2
๐Ÿ—“๏ธโ€Š 19/08/2023 After we get our breakfast at the hotel, we'll go visit the following: - Monkey Forest - Cretya Ubud - Ceking Rice Terrace NB: You can read the description for each stop separately. โ˜† What's included? ๐ŸŒฎ Breakfast ๐Ÿš—โ€Š Transport ๐ŸŽŸ Monkey Forest entrance ticket Its official name is the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary (Balinese: Mandala Suci Wenara Wana), and its name as written on its welcome sign is the Padangtegal Mandala Wisata Wanara Wana Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. The Ubud Monkey Forest is a popular tourist attraction and is often visited by over 10,000 tourists a month. The Monkey Forest lies within the village of Padangtegal and it is the village which owns it. The village's residents view the Monkey Forest as an important spiritual, economic, educational, and conservation centre for the village and the wider region. The Ubud Monkey Forest covers approximately a tenth of a square kilometer (approximately 10 hectares or 27 acres) at the lower end of Jalan Monkey Forest in the village of Padangtegal and contains at least 115 different species of trees. The park is heavily forested and hilly. A deep ravine runs through the park grounds, at the bottom of which flows a rocky stream. Trails allow visitors access to many parts of the park, including the ravine and stream. The Monkey Forest grounds have a forest conservation area, a public hall and gallery, an open stage, a canteen, a first aid center, a police post, parking and toilet facilities, and a composting facility. Temples: The Monkey Forest grounds are home to three Hindu temples, all apparently constructed around 1350. The Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal ("Padangtegal Great Temple of Death"), also known as the Main Temple, lies in the southwestern part of the park. The temple is used for worshiping the god Hyang Widhi in personification of Shiva, the Recycler or Transformer. The Pura Beji, or Beji Temple, in the northwestern part of the park, is used for the worship of Hyang Widhi in personification of the goddess Gangga. A "Holy Spring" bathing temple, it is a place of spiritual and physical cleansing and purification prior to religious ceremonies. The Pura Prajapati, or Prajapati Temple, located in the northeastern part of the park, is used to worship Hyang Widhi in personification of Prajapati. A cemetery adjacent to this temple receives the bodies of the deceased for temporary burial while they await a mass cremation ceremony, held once every five years. The temples play an important role in the spiritual life of the local community, and the monkey and its mythology are important in the Balinese art tradition. The Monkey Forest area is sanctified by the local community, and some parts of it are not open to view by the public. Sacred areas of the temples are closed to everyone except those willing to pray and wear proper Balinese praying attire.

The coffee plantations in Bali tend to be located in beautiful surroundings allowing you to reconnect with nature and experience rural Bali. You can also buy local coffee from the source for great prices. There are a few important things that you need to know before you visit coffee plantations in Bali: โ€ข Not all โ€œcoffee plantationsโ€ in Bali actually grow coffee! Some โ€œplantationsโ€ have gardens and may have a single coffee bush. But really they are set up to give you samples and run shops selling coffee. โ€ข Not all coffee plantations in Bali are ethical. Some coffee plantations may not give you the real deal (especially if youโ€™re looking for more specialist blends). AND in some cases coffee plantations keep Luwaks in captivity (small civet cats) to make Kopi Luwak. More on this soon. โ€ข Many of the coffee plantations have shops attached. Be aware that coffee in these shops may actually be well above the market price โ€“ sometimes charging a lot more per gram than the airport. โ€ข Some of the best coffee plantations in Bali are linked to resorts. Yes, you can actually stay at a coffee resort! This may actually be the BEST and most ethical way to visit a plantation in Bali.
