Trip Itinerary
1
Hessel
Day 1-4
The rustic cabin we use as our home base is located just outside of Hessel, MI. This will be our evening accommodation for the 3 nights of our trip and will also serve as our relaxation oasis when we are not adventuring. Pontoon boat rides, fires by the lake, and swimming will all be possible here! Hessel will also serve as the launch point for our kayaking adventure in the beautiful Les Cheneaux Islands. Depending on the paddling experience level of our TripMates, our 4-5 hour paddling route will guide us through various places in the island chain.
2
Grand Island Township
Day 4
A 2-hour van ride brings us to our second adventure location, Grand Island. We will be boarding the ferry in Munising and taking the 10-minute ferry ride out to the island, where we will hike into the interior of the island in search of scenic overlooks of Pictured Rocks and Lake Superior. After a nice hike, we can take an optional dip in Lake Superior before boarding the ferry and heading back to our lodging accommodations for the evening.
3
Mackinac Island
Day 4
A 30-minute van ride from our lodging brings us to the ferry terminal to our third adventure location, historic Mackinac Island. Boarding the ferry in St. Ignace, we will be treated to incredible views of the Mackinac Bridge as we make our way to the island. Once at the island, we will explore some of the historical features of the island, like the Old Fort and Main Street. We will then get bikes and ride the 8-mile loop around the island on the paved path, taking in the scenery and fresh air. We'll finish with some optional souvenir shopping before heading back to St. Ignace and then on to the cabin for the evening.
