🍓 I would love to show you around my absolute favorite Bulgarian city. I'll be there at the beginning of September to do a bit of work and spend some time enjoying what my home country has to offer - breathtaking nature, warm people, and good wine. 🌻 Plovdiv was named European Capital of Culture in 2019 and for good reason. It's a city full of cute cafés, artisanal markets, exquisite little boutiques with handmade clothes, delicious food, and gorgeous wine made locally in the heart of the Thracian valley. In Plovdiv, you can see ancient ruins, drink exquisite wine, and listen to world-class music for only a fraction of the cost at which this can be done in other European cities. 🇧🇬 TRIP LEADER: Hi, I'm Katya, a Bulgarian who has lived abroad since 2010. I'm an English teacher and a yoga instructor. Currently, I am in Mexico doing a bit of volunteer work and improving my Spanish. I can't wait to return back to the homeland in late summer and show you around my favorite Bulgarian city. 🏘 ACCOMMODATION: I've rented out a cozy apartment in the cultural center of the city (Kapana neighborhood), where everyone can enjoy their privacy and a stable Wi-Fi connection. The apartment has 3 double bedrooms and the plan is for each trip mate to have the privacy of their own bedroom. If you wish to share with a friend, it can be arranged. Just let me know :) If more than 3 people want to join me and everyone wants a private room, I can speak to the host to book a 2nd apartment nearby. WHAT'S INCLUDED: 🍓 7 nights in an apartment in the city center (strong Wi-Fi) 🍓 Transport to and from the airport and the day trip locations mentioned in the itinerary 🍓 All logistics & booking responsibilities are removed and taken care of, so you may enjoy yourself. 🍓 A gentle yoga class each morning 🍓 Experienced, fun & knowledgeable trip leader! 🍓 Pre-departure guidance including help with flight timings, what time pack 🍓 Destination-specific WhatsApp group for general travel questions & to meet your team before arriving 🍓Travel insurance if you are a resident of Germany or Austria 🕉 As a qualified yoga instructor, I will be more than happy to help start each day in a mindful and balanced way with a yoga class, focused on energizing the body, helping the mind wake up and the soul feel at peace. 📝 VISA: Bulgaria is in the European Union, so if you're an EU citizen, there is no need for a visa. For people interested from outside the EU, please reach out and I will check for you what is needed. 👩‍💻 During the day we can focus on work (calling all digital nomads!) and after work is done - we'll explore what the city has to offer - we'll savor the warm summer evenings, taking in the sights and sounds of Plovdiv. At the beginning of September, the temperatures are still in the mid-20s and evenings are nice and balmy. It's the time most people come back from their seaside vacations, so there will be a lot of events taking place: plenty of outdoor gigs, a beer festival, and wine tastings are on offer during this time of the year. 🍷 Don't miss out on this delicious co-working trip. Make the end of summer 2023 unforgettable and join me in Plovdiv! Any questions about the trip or suggestions - please send me a message, I am super open to feedback and happy to answer any and all questions. * I've decided to make this woman only, as I am currently feeling I would be much more comfortable sharing my space with other women. However, this can also be something we can chat about. :)

Trip Itinerary
1

Plovdiv

Day 1-2
Arrival - I can pick you up from the airport - Plovdiv or Sofia. We can chat individually about this, Sofia is just a 2 and a half hour train/bus ride from Plovdiv. Once your flight is booked, I will be able to select the most suitable bus or train for you and give you detailed instructions on where/how to purchase a ticket. Ideally, we can all arrive in Plovdiv by the late afternoon/evening on September 2nd and settle into our new temporary home - a 3-bedroom apartment in the city centre (Photos available upon request).
2

Wonderful Bridges / Чудните мостове

Day 2
Day Trip Option 1 - if people are on board, we can arrange a car (rental or with a driver for a day) and check out this wonderful natural phenomenon. The "bridges" are actually what is left of a cave which eroded over time and left us with these magnificent stone arches surrounded by idyllic mountains. This is a fairly easy and short hike, so anyone can do it! :)

Plovdiv

Day 2-6
Back in Plovdiv and now let me tell you more about the city and the lively Kapana neighborhood. This is known as the creative district of the city and when it was first established, 5 centuries ago, it was the main hub for craftsmen. Walking through the streets I always love discovering new boutiques opened up by Bulgarian creative entrepreneurs and artists, cute little cafes, wine bars, and spots where I can try Bulgarian, Turkish, or Lebanese food. There is so much happening in Plovdiv's new old artistic quarter - concerts, exhibitions, festivals, forums, brainstorming sessions and discussions, theatre performances, installation openings, screenings, workshops, and whatnot. We will have a full week to stumble upon something inspiring and meet some really interesting people. 🌻 Plovdiv also has a historic neighborhood with ruins reminiscent of Athens. These are only a short walk away and can be visited any day of the week (or evening).
4

BENDIDA WINERY

Day 6
A visit to a local winery + wine tasting (extra cost for tasting - 15 Euros) Duration: 60 minutes + another ca. 1 hour for transport, so altogether about 2-3 hours, which is something we could do after work on Thursday or Friday. We can decide a couple of months before the trip and I can call and make a booking. What's Included: - Wine tasting for 4 wines (Regional varieties of RUBIN and MAVRUD. Limited edition.) - Bulgarian dairy and meat deli platter, bread, bottled mineral water (Please let me know about any dietary requirements. I can speak to them about the possibility of a vegan option.) We will learn more about the history of the Thracians and wine. We'll be able to try wines from the family collection, sold exclusively in the winery and their own store.

Plovdiv

Day 6-8
Back in Plovdiv for our final hurrah! Friday might be half-day for some, or not. Either way, in town there are plenty of things to do - shopping, eating out, walking up one of the seven "tepes" (hills), and taking stunning sunset photos. Did I mention I'll be bringing my camera with me? I'm not a pro photographer by a long shot, but I can take a decent photo if you're in the mood for a photo session in the old town, surrounded by ancient ruins, or on top of a hill, overlooking the entire city. We can have fun and go to a gig, or have a relaxing glass of wine and just chill at the apartment. Nothing is mandatory here.
