Guided trip
Fayoum is an oasis, situated 100 KM southwest (2hrs away) of Cairo, and it's hands down one of the most scenic destinations in the country. It mixes between natural beauty, ancient history, and heritage sites such as Wadi El-Rayan, Wadi El- Hitan, Qarun Lake, Tunis Village, and waterwheels. TRIP HIGHLIGHTS TUNIS VILLAGE is famous for its wonderful pottery. After a Swiss woman visited it in the 80s, she decided to establish a pottery school to revive the pottery industry in EL Fayoum and teach residents there. You will get to learn and make your own pottery and take it back home as a souvenir! or buy pottery works or both! Here you can have a traditional Egyptian breakfast of feeder, honey, and palm syrup. THE MAGIC LAKE is one of the most beautiful lakes in Egypt. The lake gives you the chance to witness one of the most eye-catching sunsets you will ever see. It was named the Magic Lake as it changes its colors several times a day depending on the time of year and the amount of sunlight it receives. It is an amazingly beautiful place surrounded by desert. People spend their time hiking & sandboarding & horse-riding beside the Magic Lake or even swimming in the lake itself. WADI EL- HITAN (The Valley of the Whales) is a must-see place, with a nice little museum and ancient whale skeletons amid beautiful rocky/desert landscapes. The sand dunes surrounding the valley are great for activities like sandboarding and camping. And at night after all, light has gone, the clear sky away from the light pollution of cities glitters and sparkles allowing for a mesmerizing stargazing experience. QARUN LAKE is famous for being a birdwatcher’s paradise. Here you can catch a glimpse of the Flamingo and the White Pelican. The lake is known for both its natural and cultural heritage. There are plenty of activities that are popular around Lake Qarun, ranging from bird-watching, hiking, and sand-boarding to camping and boating (Felucca Ride). You can relax on the lake and spot many of Egypt’s rare and fascinating birdlife, or you could choose to hike through this vast desert landscape truly experiencing this region’s unique topography.
