Explore Stockholm on a Budget

Hej everyone! That "Hej" was not a typo, that is how you write "Hey" in Swedish! Well, now that you know some Swedish, let's go further. Stockholm is an amazing city to discover, where we can have some "fika" (Swedish concept of having coffee with some delicious pastries), walk around in some snow-filled parks and streets, and discover the amazing culture. Usually, it is considered that Stockholm is the best in summer but trust me winter is equally good. Especially now, when the temperatures are decent (around -6 to +3 degrees) unlike -18 degrees in December, it is definitely worth a visit to see the beautiful white city filled with snow. Please bring a good jacket! I am Kishore, a 23-year-old living and working in Stockholm. I am originally from India but I lived in London, UK before moving to Stockholm. You can find more about me in my profile. The accommodation will be a hostel with 2 bunk beds in each room. So, you would be sharing the room with one other traveller. However, if someone is uncomfortable, this is subject to change. It is possible to get private rooms as well. The plan is to walk around the city and explore some amazing places that I will take you to. Stockholm has a lot of museums and some of them have free entry as well. So, we could also visit some museums if you would like. For people who want to try ice-skating, there is a free-entry ice-skating rink (skates can be rented for a very cheap price). We could also take a ferry to a nearby archipelago if we feel like it. So, there are a lot of things to do and I am very flexible with the plan based on what everyone wants to do. The dates could also be flexible. I am okay with extending the trip for one or 2 more days. This could also be done by some people - if some people want to leave and some want to stay longer, I can arrange that (but the price would change as we have to book accommodation for longer). Note: We will use public transport to travel around here - it would cost €33 per person for a 3-day pass or €43 for a 7-day pass if you want to stay longer - this pass is also valid for ferries in Stockholm. This fee is not included in the cost here. Update: Reduced price as I found a cheaper place to stay

Trip Itinerary
1

Gamla stan

Day 1-2
Once you arrive in Stockholm, we can check in and then we can visit Gamla stan (old town). This is an amazing place with old streets and cute shops. We will visit the Stortorget (or “the Big Square”) which is the oldest square in Stockholm. It’s lined by beautiful buildings and houses dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. We could also visit the Stockholm Royal Palace and Storkyrkan, which is one of the oldest churches in Stockholm. I could also take you to a great sunset point. Of course, we can always have a "Fika". It is also a great place to get some souvenirs or to shop for something very local. We can have some glögg (Scandinavian mulled wine) in the evening. Note: Gamla stan is par of Stockholm (Just listing it separately to have a clear itinerary)
2

Vaxholm

Day 2
We can take a ferry to Vaxholm, which is an archipelago of Stockholm. The Ferry has both interior and exterior space - you can go out for a few minutes and if you feel chilly, you can always come in. Vaxholm is a cute town to walk around. We can spend the day there. By "Day" I mean until 3 to 4 pm as the sunset is around 3.30 pm. We can have some hot dogs or any other food you like and we can come back to Stockholm. Once, we are back we could just walk around in Stockholm (I can show you some nice streets and other local attractions) and we can always have "fika". We could also visit some museums if you like and could also do some shopping (I have discounts on some brands - will let you know the brands once you confirm the trip - that is a pleasant surprise). Finally, we could go to a bar in the evening or at night - maybe play some board games or just have some nice conversations with some drinks.

Stockholm

Day 2-3
We could walk around in the city - I will show you some more local attractions. We can also walk through some very unique narrow streets of Stockholm. If you want we could also meet up with some of my friends in Stockholm (they are of multiple nationalities living in Stockholm). Then it is sadly time to say goodbye unless someone wants to extend their trip!
