Chipiona

Day 1-2
THE SPAIN LIGHTHOUSE IN THE SEA OF DISCOVERY On the first day, we will receive everyone at the reception of the Inturjoven Hostel, the residence of the participants of Chipiona Su 2022, on the shore of the Ocean Sea. At 5 pm the opening ceremony awaits us and the words of welcome that they address to us, a prelude to the experience that awaits us. The host of our arrival could not have more credentials, the Lighthouse of Spain whose lantern dominates stunning panoramic views over the mouth of the Guadalquivir, a geographical matter that will be the main asset that has forged the bimillennial history of this place. A climb up the magical space that is its steroostomical helical staircase of 62 m of carved stone, will lead us to this destination in the sky of this maritime landscape exponent of the General History of Spain. One day of arrival and with this welcome, it deserves a relaxed walk along the Paseo Marítimo de Chipiona, to understand that from heaven we have come down to its land, where we are also welcomed with the culture of wine and good Spanish food.

Day 2-3
A PLACE IN THE SEA OF WEALTH We have a whole day of discoveries ahead of us, to meet the place on the ground. We will have the opportunity in the morning to rehearse a tourist project and thus participate in its realization as a test public, the Paseos Museos del Mar project, where we will make a generous and surprising itinerary through the cultural heritage of the urban coast of Chipiona. Nor will serve as a general presentation for the cultural contents of the coming days. Today is the day marked for a first determined meeting with the beach in the free time hours of noon, where we will organize a picnic and rest to undertake the bike ride through the field of Chipiona, where we will find its natural values and its agricultural benefits, riches of which people committed to its protection and cultivation will tell us. Perhaps after the bike ride, we need at night a moment of rest and relaxation. The facilities of the Inturjoven Hostel are ideal for this, although the beach is also next to us.

Day 3-4
THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL DISCOVERING OF CHIPIONA This day brings us the continuous amazement that brings with it the archaeological discovery of a Chipiona hidden, behind the walls, in the orchard of today, buried under the ground, in the same streets that we walk... As archaeologists, each of us will travel to a past through the true novel of the history of the town, which, as in all towns, is veiled by traditional Castilian history. We will be a great team of archaeologists equipped with the main excavation shovel, the archaeology of knowledge, and the argument of the cultivated and critical gaze. We will then come across a cascade of absolutely surprising discoveries that are also in view of all of us, such as the Visigothic church of the famous and lost Nono Monastery of San Fructuoso, the Mozarabía and the Alquería de Chipiona, the Sufi Islamic monastery of Las Mezquitas, an exclusive Mozarabic Ferris wheel, an astronomical mosque, the Andalusian fishing pens, the Camino de Chipiona... where for four centuries they traveled with us, the Christians and Muslims of the Andalusi Chipiona. We will finish the day in the old town of the Paseo Marítimo de Chipiona, and judging by what awaits us, and it will possibly be the last opportunity to enjoy this atmosphere and its tastings. However, the Regla festivities will come our way in the vicinity of the Hostel.

Day 4-5
A DAY OF INTERNATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST Exclusive fisheries of Spain, a wine of international excellence decorated with awards and a party of "tourist interest of Andalusia", is an explosive cocktail that can liven up well into the night. We start the day with a vigorous breakfast of Chipiona Natural, the rich ecological environment of its rocky intertidal beach, where the fishing weirs are located, a gigantic fishing trap that is an architectural monument to the fishing net. A corralero’, a weir fisherman, will give us a fishing performance with his own equipment. At 17:00 we will have to be on the terrace of the Hotel Al Sur de Chipiona to witness from a tribune of excellence the Procession of the Virgin of Regla, the reason for these festivities, which will offer us some fireworks at 24:00 on the Playa de Regla and the night party. But before in the afternoon, between 18:00 and 21:00 a wine tourism tour awaits us through the wineries and their wines, paired with the history of Chipiona, because in reverse too, since the history of Chipiona came with wine. The night is festive, the party is in the immediate vicinity of our hostel, but tomorrow a whole day awaits us at sea.

Day 5-6
CRUISING THE GUADALQUIVIR MOUTH All day at sea, a luxury cruise through the mouth of the Guadalquivir will take us first to the reef island of Salmedina, an ephemeral land of the tide, which will be submerged at our departure. From there we will go to the mouth itself, to be spectators of its geography and its danger to navigation, as we will contemplate one of the hundreds and hundreds of sunken ships from the origin of civilization to our days. The cruise ship will arrive at the beach of the Doñana National Park, an emblem of environmental sustainability in Europe. We will be at the foot of the largest dune cord in Spain, and on its beaches, we will take the whole afternoon to use it in the Celebration of the SU, between its delicious baths, the exercise of beach games, a picnic for lunch ..., to return to the Marina of Chipiona.

Day 6
EXPLORING THE FOSSIL BEACHES OF THE REEF AND THEIR ROMAN QUARRIES SEMI-SUBMERGED Half a day only in Chipiona, to bring us a living history, again of the sea and of men. The fossil beaches of the Quaternary will take us to the seas of distant millennia, in their gravel pits to be direct witnesses on the ground, of the archaeological findings of the ships sunk in Salmedina since the origin of historical times. And even more, we will explore the millstone quarries exploited by the Romans on the rocky beach, the best preserved quarries of the Roman Empire that were active for several centuries, and where again the tide carried out part of the work of exploiting the stone. A Clousure Lunch, offered by the oldest Cooperative Society in Spain, which this year celebrates its centenary, the Bodega Católica Agrícola, will be a finishing touch so that an indelible weight of memories remains in our luggage.
