Trip Itinerary
1

Luang Prabang

Day 1-4
Arrival, transfer and accommodation at the hotel in Luang Prabang. Luang Prabang, located at the confluence of the Mekong and Han rivers, is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in the country. According to UNESCO, the city has the best-preserved ensemble of traditional and colonial architecture in Asia. Overnight at a Luang Prabang hotel.
2

Luang Prabang

Day 4
After breakfast, we will go on a sightseeing tour of the city. Today's program includes the National Museum in the former Royal Palace (closed on Tuesdays and Sunday afternoons), containing a collection of valuable artefacts. Wat Wisun was nicknamed the "Watermelon Pagoda" due to its shape. You'll also explore the majestic Wat Xieng Thong monastery, whose roofs curve almost to the ground. This monastery is the epitome of the classical style of temple architecture in Luang Prabang. In the afternoon, we will visit the weaving villages of Ban Xangkong and Ban Xienglek, where we will learn in detail about the silk-making process, as well as the Center for Ethnology and Traditional Arts, to get a closer look at the culture of Laos. At the end of the day - an evening climb to Phu Si Hill, where a magnificent panorama of the city and the surrounding area opens. After that, we will have dinner on a boat during a circle along the evening Mekong. Overnight at the hotel in Luang Prabang. ✔️ Dinner is included.
3

Luang Prabang

Day 4
We recommend getting up at dawn on this day, as it is at this time that the city hosts the daily morning ritual of offerings by residents to Buddhist monks dressed in bright saffron robes. This spectacle is unique since Laos remains the only Buddhist state preserving this tradition. After getting acquainted with the sacred ritual, we will also stop by the local market on the way back to the hotel, which is lively in the morning. We will hit the road again after returning to the hotel and having breakfast. This time, explore the surroundings of Luang Prabang. On a short cruise up the Mekong, overlooking serene fields and villages, we reach the mysterious caves called Pak U. It is filled with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of all shapes and sizes left behind by pilgrims. The second stop and the end of today's journey will be the legendary cascading waterfall of Kuang Si. Here, among tropical flowers and aromas, we will linger longer, relieving fatigue with a swim in a picturesque waterfall and a leisurely walk along forest paths. After returning to the city, rest overnight at a Luang Prabang hotel.
4

Xiangkhouang Province

Day 4-5
Luang Prabang – Xiengkhuang (Phonsavan): 7 hours, 264 km. After breakfast, we drive to Phonsavan, famous worldwide for its “Valley of Jars”. The route will run through the mountains, and we can make several stops at observation platforms. The maximum height of the mountains in this area reaches 1500 meters above sea level. On the way, we will stop at the Hmong village of Ban Son Boom to get acquainted with their life and history, which is not always joyful. Thus, the Phonsavan region played an important role during the Vietnam War. And we will see the echoes of these events. We will visit the hidden Buddha Cave, which served as a hospital during the war, see an old Soviet tank, and visit the MAG demining centre. Overnight at hotel in Xiengkhuang.
5

Vang Vieng

Day 5-7
Phonsavan – Vang Vieng: 6 hours, 236 km. Today, we will visit two Valleys of Jars. Experts have many points of view regarding the origin of the jugs themselves. We will share with you several archaeological versions, and who knows - maybe you will have your own. Next, we will stop by the ancient city of Muang Khun - the province's former capital, explore the ruins of ancient Lanna-style pagodas and visit the ruined Wat Fiawat temple with its monumental seated Buddha. And so we say goodbye to Phonsavan and head to the south of the country - towards Vang Vieng. We have a long, winding and immensely picturesque mountain route, sparse with rare villages and observation platforms. One of which, Pou Pieng Pha, boasts one of the best views in Laos (weather permitting). Of course, we will make stops to stretch our legs, take bright photos and meet the locals - whether it be the inhabitants of the Hmong village of Hin Ngon or Phahome, famous for the local forest market. It is here that you can eat snakes, rats and various reptiles. The final stop on the way is the observation deck on Mount Fatang. From here, you can take genuinely fantastic photos of the ridges of the sprawling karst mountains. Upon arrival in Vang Vieng - accommodation, free time and overnight at the hotel.
6

Vang Vieng

Day 7
This morning, we will visit the picturesque Tam Gang Cave, which offers stunning views of the Nam Son River and karst landscapes. We'll then hop on a local tractor and race through the rice fields towards the Tham Phukam caves, taking in local sights and greetings from nearby villages. Here, surrounded by virgin forests, lies not only the most famous limestone cave in the region but also a very picturesque lagoon - right at the foot of one of the deepest caves. Of course, we will cool off in its blue water, bungee diving until we get tired. After a picnic in nature, if desired, we can challenge our capabilities and raft on inflatable tubes along the piedmont river (additional charge). We will walk half the way - this is enough to feel the adrenaline and courage, see the beauty of the cave arches stalagmites and cool off from a hot day in the cool water of a piedmont river. The finale of the day of adventure in Vang Vieng will be tubing on the Nam Sok River (additional charge). You have already learned to control the camera; doing it along the river is much more accessible. Take your phone with you in a waterproof bag and take pictures of the limestone mountains and each other right in the river. Overnight at a hotel in Vang Vieng. ✔️ Lunch is included.
7

Vientiane

Day 7-8
Vang Vieng – Vientiane: 4 hours, 157 km. In the morning, after saying goodbye to the beautiful Vang Vieng, we will go to the capital of Laos with a stop on the way - in the small village of Tha Neua, specialising in dried fish. We will see with our own eyes the bunches of dried fish hanging in front of the houses. Upon arrival in Vientiane, check into a hotel and take a break before walking around the city. Today, we will visit the oldest temple in the city - Wat Sisaket, which houses thousands of miniature Buddha statues; the former royal temple of Wat Prakao, which previously housed the famous statue of the Emerald Buddha; and the ancient stupa of That Luang. We'll also be able to take a photo of the imposing Patuxai Monument, known as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane, and visit the unusual but impressive Buddha Park with its charming collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures in a Mekong River meadow. They were created by a mysterious monk, revealing his philosophy of life and his ideas about the Universe. Overnight at a hotel in Vientiane.
8

Tad Lo Village

Day 8-9
Vientiane - Pakse (Lao Airlines, QW 305 08:00-08:50). Having covered a long distance between the capital and Pakse by plane, we will arrive in the province of Champosak. And straight from the airport, we will go to the Bolaven mountain plateau. This place is known for the coldest temperatures in the country, primarily due to its high altitude location above the Mekong Valley and its stunning variety of waterfalls. Having settled in cosy bungalows, we will go to explore the plateau. Our first stop will be the village of Howei Teng, which specializes in knife-making. The residents of this village represent the ancient Kathu ethnic group. Don't be surprised when you see Katas smoke a long, giant bamboo - everyone from children to older people. Our next stops will be Tad Phan - a picturesque waterfall with two chutes, a coffee plantation on the way to the colourful Ta Teng ethnic minority food market and the fascinating village of the Alak minority Ban Bong Neua, who still use a sacrificial altar. But that's not all. Ahead is the beautiful Tadlo Falls - here, we will have time to relax and refresh ourselves in its pools, right under the falls. And if you wish, admire the beautiful scenery during a short ride on an elephant before we go to sleep. Overnight at the hotel in Tad Lo.
9

Don Khong

Day 9-10
Boloven Plateau – Wat Phu Temple – Don Khong Island: 4 hours (without visiting the temple), 229 km. After breakfast and checking out from the hotel in Pakse, we go to the Kingdom of Champa – Champassak, built in the 7th-11th centuries. Its central pearl - the Wat Phu temple – was in the past a centre of spirituality and is now a world heritage site protected by UNESCO since 2002. Once upon a time, Khmer kings owned these lands, the empire's laws were established here, and local power belonged to either the Khmer or Laotian aristocrats. Next, we will take a ferry in the afternoon and cross the Mekong to Don Khong, a region of 4,000 islands, the widest point of the Mekong during the rainy season, although the river recedes during the dry months, leaving behind thousands of large and small islands. This river area is also known as a habitat for the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins. Late evening arrival at Khong Island. Accommodation, free time and overnight at the hotel.
10

Krong Siem Reap

Day 10-12
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a boat trip to Don Khon Island, which we will explore by bicycle. Today, we will visit sights from the country's colonial past and witness the water riot at the Ly Phi Falls, also called the “Devil's Corridor”. The day flies by, and now we are returning to the mainland. To go south - towards Cambodia. On the way, we will meet with Khon Phaepheng - the largest waterfall in terms of volume in Southeast Asia. The opportunity to take a local boat is how we will see the rare freshwater dolphins living in this Mekong area. Our cultural program continues with the routine border crossing and transfer to Siem Reap. Upon arrival in Siem Reap in the late evening - accommodation, free time and overnight at the hotel.
11

Krong Siem Reap

Day 12
Today's journey to the once-lost jungle world of Angkor, the centre of the powerful and prosperous Khmer empire, begins at dawn at the most significant Hindu religious building in the world - the Angkor Wat temple. After which, we will go to the ancient capital of Angkor Thom with the central Bayon temple, famous for its stone smile towers, climb the stone mountain temple of Bapuon, walk through the territory of the former Royal Palace, and go to the medieval Buddhist monastery Ta Prohm, once swallowed up by giant ficus trees and silk trees. After a rich walk around Angkor, lunch and a short rest at the hotel, we will go for dinner and a show in the atmosphere of the union of ancient traditions with modernity: dance numbers, authentic music, and many colourful dishes for memory with the Apsara demigods. Then - go to Pub Street and drink a mango margarita in a cosy cafe among the colonial houses, listen to live music and take a selfie as a memory of one of the most popular places on the Planet. Overnight at a hotel in Siem Reap.
