Hi! My name is Aljaz. I grew up in Slovenia and have a great passion for travel and cycling Over the years, I’ve done practically everything around it, from backpacking and living abroad to taking on various summer jobs, being a camp counselor and volunteering in various countries. Whenever it comes to organizing trips, I’m always the one who ends up planning, and I genuinely enjoy it.

For this route, the accommodations will be planned accordingly. Guesthouses, Airbnbs, and hostels are abundant in key towns like Santiago, San Fernando, Curicó, Talca, Malargüe, and Viña del Mar. Opting for private rooms ensures comfort and recovery after long cycling days. Many places along this route also offer cyclist-friendly amenities, such as secure bike storage and laundry facilities. Let me know if you'd like recommendations for specific locations! Any questions about the trip? You can let me know in the Q&A section!

Trip Itinerary
1

Santiago

Day 1-2
This 14-day bike touring route starts and ends in Santiago, Chile, forming a loop through the central valleys, the Andes mountains, and parts of western Argentina. Designed with a balance of long cycling days and two well-placed rest days covering little or no distance depending on the preferences of the group, the route offers a mix of challenging climbs, rewarding descents, and cultural experiences.
2

Talca

Day 2-5
The first few days we will focus on warming the legs with rides ranging from 110 to 130 km per day. We will head south through the through picturesque central valley, passing iconic towns like San Fernando, Curicó, and Talca, known for their vineyards and rolling hills, before crossing the Andes.
3

Bardas Blancas

Day 5-8
As the route progresses eastward, riders ascend into the Andes, facing significant climbs to cross into Argentina. This section features breathtaking mountain vistas and high-altitude challenges, culminating in the descent into Malargüe, a tranquil town that serves as a well-deserved rest stop on Day 7. In those 3 days, we will try to cover distances from 90 to 120km.
4

Mendoza

Day 8-11
The route heads west along the Argentine side of the Andes, following scenic valleys and open plains. Riders enjoy relatively smoother terrain, with gentle descents and long stretches of solitude framed by the dramatic backdrop of the mountains. The journey gradually loops back toward Chile, retracing the Andes foothills and offering a second chance to soak in the region's stark beauty. We will try to step up the game in this part, hopefully covering distances from 120-160km a day, with a final short or rest day in or near Menoza town.
5

Los Andes

Day 11-13
Crossing back into Chile, we will be greeted with rolling terrain and the fertile landscapes of the central valley. The Andes remain a prominent feature on the horizon, serving as a reminder of the adventure and challenges conquered. This section is a blend of effort and reward, showcasing the Andes' raw majesty and the vibrant culture of both countries, with a possible extension of the route to Vina del mar.
6

Santiago

Day 13-14
Return to Santiago either from Los Andes or Vina del Mar - this extension adds an additional layer of adventure to the tour, offering new landscapes and a memorable conclusion by the Pacific Ocean for those with extra time or energy.
