Guided trip
The Jungle Book goes into the next round. Adventure seekers watch out! I am planning an Amazon crossing from Brazil to Colombia with the following backpacking trip! The start of the trip is in Rio de Janeiro. Here we will meet and spend a few days enjoying the city and acclimatizing before heading to the Amazon via domestic flight to Manaus. From here, the boats leave for Colombia and Peru and we embark on a week-long boat trip through the Amazon. We sleep in hammocks and use these days to go completely offline! Playing card games, watching pink dolphins, listening to podcasts, reading and meditating. The boat is equipped with the basics, but be aware that this is a very local way of traveling and not designed for tourism! However, we ultimately want to participate in real life and take every experience with us. After a week we arrive in Leticia in Colombia and are now in the three-country corner between Peru, Colombia and Brazil and can also make a short visit to Peru. We use the next days in Leticia to explore the jungle on foot and to meet indigenous peoples. From Leticia, we take a domestic flight to Cartagena, where we visit the beautiful colonial city for a few days and finally get a fresh ocean breeze. From Cartagena, we'll head to Isla Grande for a bit of a Caribbean feel and to sunbathe on the beach, go scuba diving and drink cocktails. Next on the plan is Santa Marta, because we can't leave the sea and cool city vibes so soon. A few days later it's time for our first vibrant city, the famous Medellin! Following in the footsteps of Pablo Escobar, we'll spend a few days exploring the city, which is known for its art and graffiti scene, and dive deep into the culture of Colombia. From here we also make a few excursions and visit for example Guatape (check google images- no more words needed). Afterwards, we continue to Salento. A small town surrounded by the largest palm trees in the world. A unique nature highlight! Last but not least Bogota! Here our trip ends and we spend a few more days in the lively capital of Colombia, look at the architecture and local markets and getting ready for the return journey. The cost includes accommodation and the organization of the trip. You should be open-minded, adventurous, spontaneous and adaptable and have no problem sharing a room and living the backpacking lifestyle! Briefly about myself: I am Yara, 24 years old and I have been traveling around the world for 6 years. Mostly I travel alone and with my backpack and have already lived several years in Central America and also traveled South America. I am open, easy going and communicative. I speak several languages and will get us through the jungle somehow! After my studies in tourism management, I completed an apprenticeship as a diving instructor and can't stop discovering new places. I am looking forward to meeting you!

Trip Itinerary
1

Rio de Janeiro

Day 1-4
It's not carnival at the moment, but this city still has a lot to offer! We spend the first few days here and let ourselves be drawn into the vibrant metropolis and explore the highlights of the city for a few days. Afterwards, we take an inland flight to Manaus, the heart of the Amazon.
2

Manaus

Day 4-6
Manaus can only be reached by plane and is located in the middle of the Amazon. From here there are countless Amazon tours and also our boat trip starts here to go the next week completely offline and get deep into the Amazon.
3

Leticia

Day 6-8
Leticia is located on the Colombian side of the three countries corner and is our starting point for our backpacking adventure in Colombia. From here we can also make a short trip to Peru and explore the rainforest on foot.
4

Cartagena

Day 8-11
One of the most beautiful places in Colombia! Let yourself be amazed by the beautiful colonial city. Here we unwind and relax for a few days and enjoy the flair of the city and its surrounding beaches.
5

Isla Grande

Day 11-14
Yey! Finally some Caribbean feeling. On Isla Grande, we can hang out and spend our days on the beach in the sun with a few cocktails and go diving and kayaking! What a place to have some vacation from our vacation hehe.
6

Santa Marta

Day 14-17
Another colonial city, which is a bit more relaxed than Cartagena, but by no means less interesting. From here we can do many great excursions and explore the beautiful surrounding or just enjoy the "hippie" vibe of the place.
7

Medellín

Day 17-20
The famous Medellin! Thanks to Pablo Escobar, everyone has probably heard about this place. There are many stories and rumors about this place, but what few people know is that Medellin has transformed from a former drug hub to a hip and modern metropolis. The city is full of street art and graffiti and lets us dive deep into the history of the country. In addition, from here we also take a trip to Guatape (check out pictures on Google - No words needed).
8

Guatapé

Day 20-21
As mentioned above, we take a day trip with the bus from Medellin to Guatapé and enjoy this magical place for a day. Guatapé is probably one of Colombias Highlights and no Backpacker would dare to miss it.
9

Salento

Day 21-23
Known for coffee cultivation and the largest palm trees in the world! Salento is a small town in the highlands of Colombia and brings us once again from the city to nature. Salento's palm trees are world famous and bigger than you can imagine! A charming place to take photos and drink as much coffee as possible.
10

Bogotá

Day 23-25
Last but not least Bogotá! Before I was in Bogotá for the first time, many people told me how dangerous this place is. Unfortunately, these people have never been there themselves and the only thing they have seen is Narcos on Netflix. Believe me, the city has a lot to offer and cool neighborhoods and markets, which we will explore the last days and once again breathe fresh mountain air.
