Alpine Roads to the Blue Coast

DAY 1 Welcome to Interlaken, the heart of the Swiss Alps! We’ll meet at Interlaken train station at 12:00 PM Shortly after our first stop is the Aare Gorge, a spectacular natural canyon carved over thousands of years. Walk along the narrow cliffside paths and suspended walkways, listening to the rushing water below and enjoying the dramatic rock formations—a perfect spot for photos and nature lovers. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Interlaken, the adventure capital nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, with the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks towering nearby. We’ll take the funicular (or hike) to Harder Kulm, Interlaken’s famous viewpoint. From the top, enjoy panoramic vistas of the lakes, alpine villages, and surrounding mountains, a breathtaking introduction to the Swiss Alps. Evening is free to stroll Interlaken’s town center, visit local shops, or relax at a café with Swiss chocolate and coffee. Overnight: Interlaken – cozy alpine apartments with stunning mountain views. DAY 2 Today is all about exploring the stunning landscapes around Interlaken. Start with a visit to the Lauterbrunnen Valley, often called the “Valley of 72 Waterfalls.” Wander through alpine meadows dotted with charming Swiss chalets, and marvel at truly impressive waterfalls like Staubbach Falls and Trümmelbach Falls, the latter hidden inside a mountain and accessible via lifts and tunnels. For adventure enthusiasts, there’s the option to hike the valley trails, take a mountain bike tour, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk soaking in the dramatic cliffs and lush scenery. Stop in the village of Lauterbrunnen for lunch at a local café and try some Swiss specialties. Evening returns you to Interlaken, where you can relax, explore the town’s shops, or enjoy lakeside views at Lake Thun or Lake Brienz. DAY 3 Wake up to a fresh alpine morning and prepare for a day surrounded by crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain scenery. Begin with a relaxing cruise on Lake Brienz, gliding past turquoise waters, charming lakeside villages, and dramatic cliffs. Take in the views of Brienz village, known for its traditional woodcarving and charming streets. After the cruise, explore the Giessbach Falls Trail, a scenic path that leads you past cascading waterfalls and the historic Grandhotel Giessbach, perched above the lake. Enjoy short hikes along the trails, perfect for nature photography and soaking in the alpine beauty. The late afternoon is free to stroll Interlaken’s town center, shop for Swiss souvenirs, or simply relax by Lake Thun before returning to your accommodation.

DAY 4 After breakfast, we’ll leave Interlaken and begin our scenic drive toward Montreux, traveling along picturesque lakes and charming Swiss villages. On the way, stop to admire Lake Geneva, one of Europe’s largest and most beautiful lakes, with its sparkling waters framed by mountains and vineyards. In Montreux, visit the iconic Chillon Castle, a historic lakeside fortress dating back to the 12th century. Wander through its towers, dungeons, and courtyards, and enjoy spectacular views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. Afterward, take some time to stroll Montreux’s lakeside promenade, lined with flowers, sculptures, and cafés, or relax at a lakeside café with Swiss chocolate and coffee.

DAY 5 After breakfast, we’ll cross into France and make our way to Annecy, often called the “Venice of the Alps.” This charming town is famous for its picturesque canals, pastel-colored buildings, and lakeside promenade. Spend the day exploring Annecy’s historic old town, wandering along the cobbled streets, visiting local boutiques, and stopping at cafés to taste French pastries and coffee. Don’t miss the Palais de l’Isle, a historic 12th-century castle in the middle of a canal, and enjoy a relaxing walk along Lake Annecy, one of the cleanest lakes in Europe with crystal-clear waters. Evening is free to enjoy local cuisine at a French bistro, or simply soak in the romantic ambiance of the town as the sun sets over the lake. DAY 6 After a quick breakfast at one of the city’s cafés the day will be dedicated to the following excursion: 1️⃣ Le Semnoz (Distance from Annecy: ~20 km) - Hike Duration: 2–5 hours, depending on the route - Description: A gentle mountain overlooking Annecy, perfect for scenic walks. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of Lake Annecy and the surrounding Alps. Suitable for families.

DAY 7 After a quick breakfast at one of Annecy’s cafés, we’ll depart for the Gorges du Verdun. The transfer will take approximately 4 hours, giving you time to relax and enjoy the scenery along the way. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Gorges du Verdun, walking along the scenic pathways above the river and discovering the dramatic canyon. This area is perfect for photography, enjoying nature, and experiencing a peaceful yet adventurous setting. DAY 8 Today is all about immersing yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Verdon Gorge, one of Europe’s most spectacular canyons. Start with a drive along the Route des Crêtes, a scenic mountain road offering panoramic views of the turquoise Verdon River winding through towering cliffs. Stop at Point Sublime, one of the most famous viewpoints, to capture stunning vistas of the gorge and surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, visit Lac de Sainte-Croix, a serene lake at the southern end of the gorge. Here, you can kayak, paddle, or simply relax by the water while soaking in the surrounding mountains. Later, wander through the charming village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, famous for its terracotta rooftops, artisan shops, and ceramics. Evening is free to enjoy a local dinner, watch the sunset over the gorge, and reflect on a day full of nature and adventure. Overnight: Verdon Gorge area – cozy accommodation with stunning views of the canyon or nearby village.

DAY 9 After breakfast, we’ll leave the Verdon Gorge region and enjoy a scenic drive toward the French Riviera, passing through charming Provencal villages and rolling hills. Arriving in Nice, take a stroll along the iconic Promenade des Anglais, soaking in the Mediterranean views, palm-lined streets, and vibrant atmosphere. Explore Old Town (Vieux Nice), wandering its narrow cobbled streets filled with colorful buildings, bustling markets, and local cafés. Stop to try socca, a traditional chickpea pancake, or enjoy a gelato while watching street life unfold. Evening is free to relax by the sea, dine at a local bistro, or take in the sunset over the Mediterranean, celebrating the end of your incredible road trip. 🌊 End of road trip in Nice – your adventure concludes here, with memories of Swiss Alps, Verdon Gorge, and the French Riviera.
