Guided trip
Hi, guys :) this time around we are going to explore the north of Italy by car, specifically, one region in particular: Lombardy! But first… it’s-a me, Giulia! I'm the typical Italian girl, raised on Margherita Pizza 🍕 and weird hand gestures! I love meeting new people and getting to know new cultures. Whether you are looking for a new friend, a new mum, or a new mascotte, I can be the one for you 😬! Reunited in Milan (Central Station), on the first day, we will spend the afternoon and the first evening exploring the city, where we will also attend a private tour of Mysteries and Legends! On the second day, we will move to Lake Garda, where we will spend the day in Italy's biggest Amusement Park: Gardaland (the only destination that will go beyond Lombardy boundaries)! During the morning on the third day, we will sail for a brief but gorgeous boat tour in Sirmione, a resort town on the southern bank of Garda, known for Rocca Scaligera, a medieval castle overlooking the lake. While in the afternoon we will drive to Bergamo, where we’ll explore the ancient center, mostly famous for its medieval atmosphere. On the fourth day, we will move to the famous Lake Como! First, we will venture, finally, to the only, but breathtaking, trek of our trip: the Greenway, a sightseeing path through lakeside hamlets & wooded hills dotted with lookouts & baroque churches. In the afternoon, we’ll stop in the city center, where we will also take the funicular to Brunate, a magical place unknown to the greater public. On the last morning, we will return to Milan! I’ll drive you guys back to Central Station, where we will say goodbye! Where are we staying? 🏡 Being a Road Trip, we are going to change our “home” every night! The accommodations will respectively be: —> MILAN: apartment (everyone will have their own bed: 1 double bed, 2 single beds, 1 sofa bed) —> SIRMIONE/LAKE GARDA: apartment (breakfast included) + (everyone will have their own bed: 1 double bed, 2 single beds, 1 sofa bed) —> BERGAMO: apartment (1 bunk bed + 2 single beds). —> LAKE COMO: apartment (1 double bed: this is the only accommodation where 2 female mates (I’ll be one out of the 2) will have to share a double bed together + 2 single beds). What about transportation? 🚙 As you have probably guessed 😆 were are going to move around mainly by car 🚗! I’ll be your private driver, and we are going to use my own car, so we will only spend on gasoline, and you can completely forget about the car rental fees since the bolide is already included 😬! Each day we will move to the next destination, for a journey of about one or two hours, early in the morning (leaving around 7/8 AM, depending on the day), so that we do not waste time and fully enjoy the day's new destination. As for Milan, instead, of the most central areas, we are going to travel by Subway 🚇 (you can estimate about 1.50 euros per ride). The trip costs include 💰: - All the accommodations (Shared rooms) - Car (Tool booths included) - In Como: funicular round-trip ticket - In Bergamo: funicular round-trip ticket - In Lake Garda: Gardaland entrance fee - In Sirmione: 30 Minutes Boat tour - In Milan: Private Tour with a Local: “Milan: between Mystery & Legend” - 1 Breakfast - Travel Insurance (unluckily, for now, provided only for travelers from Germany and Austria) What is not included 💸: - Flights (Nevertheless, prices to Milan from major European cities are currently very affordable, between 50 and 200 euros. They can be a little more expensive coming outside Europe.) - Subway Transportation in Milan (you can consider more or less 5/10 €) - Gasoline - Lunches & Dinners (I’ll find for you the best restaurants and taverns for quality-price, so you are guaranteed the best Italian food 🍕 at the best price available!) - Other activities not mentioned in “The trip costs include” - Travel Insurance (except travelers from Germany and Austria) ❕IMPORTANT GUIDELINES: —>It will be important for this specific trip to be lightly equipped, as we will be sharing a car with the 4 of us, and the trunk will only be one 🤓! Since we only had to bring clothes for a few days, I highly recommend a hiking backpack or carry-on luggage at most (the smaller the better)! —> Always bring with you some cash 💶. Italy has finally switched to mandatory card payment availability… but the old generations are still in love with their banknotes and coins, so it will be easier to buy stuff in small souvenir and food stores (which are usually the best ones to explore!). —> Dress in layers 🧥: despite its reputation as a hot country, it is not always summer in Italy! Remember to bring both short-sleeved T-shirts and a couple of sweaters or sweatshirts! —> For the first day, we will leave once you all arrive at the meeting point. At the latest, we will leave by lunchtime (or soon after), so it will be essential to book a flight on the morning of September 27! The meeting point will be Milan Central Station, where I will pick you up directly by car. Below you will find a video about our hike at the Lake Como Greenway, to give you an idea of the fantastic places we will explore! Unfortunately, the video is in Italian, but you can turn on English subtitles! For any other questions or curiosity, don’t mind sending me a message here on the JoinMyTrip Q&A section! Can’t wait to meet you soon 🤗, Giulia *The apartments and all the activities planned may be subject to variation based on both the weather and the number of TripMates. Gardaland park

Day 2
Ready to be a child again? A day like you haven't had in a long time :D Up bright and early, in fact, we will head straight to Italy's largest Amusement Park: Gardaland (The only non-Lombardy stop... we will, in fact, be in Veneto!). The park offers both adrenaline-pumping attractions (as roller coasters) and more relaxing ones (such as 4D cinemas and water slides), to please a little bit of every taste! When Gardaland closes, around 5 p.m., we will then move on to Sirmione, a treasure still unknown to the international public, on Lake Garda.

Sirmione

Day 2-3
In the city we will enjoy a sunset walk and a nice dinner... but not only that! The next morning, in fact, before heading to our next stop, we will venture on a short but intense boat tour of the happy town, discovering Castles, famous Villas and the Catullus Caves! Once the tour is over, back in the car: en route to Bergamo!

4

Bergamo

Day 3-4
In the afternoon, we will explore the Città Alta part of Bergamo came to life during the Renaissance, remodeled on the pre-existing medieval borough and featuring many interesting sights that make it definitely worth the trip. After a 10 minutes hike (on cemented paths) we will pass through the San Giacomo Gate, explore Piazza Vecchia, venture through the city's alleys and walk along the walls of Bergamo Alta. After having a blast exploring Old Town all day take a funicular to the Bergamo Castle. Not accessible internally, however, it will be possible to explore its ruins, with towers, gunboats and embrasures, built above an intricate underground network of tunnels and secret passages (one still visible today).

5

Lake Como

Day 4-5
Como is a world renowned tourist destination and thousands of people flock there every year to explore the impressive lake and the surrounding natural landscape.  In the morning we will hike a breath-taking path, along one of the edges of the lake: the gorgeous Greenway! Although it requires some energy because of the 3-hour walk, the route is almost exclusively flat, providing stunning views and diverse panoramas, always featuring the fantastic Lake Como in the background.

While during the afternoon we’ll visit the amazing Cathedral, explore the lakefront and take the funicular to Brunate, with its lavish old villas and breathtaking views across the lake.
6

Milan

Day 5
During our last morning together, after a restorative breakfast in Como, I will drive you back to Milan, where we will say goodbye at the Central Station! By car it will take us an hour or so to reach Milan, so remember, do not book trains/flights before 12/1 PM, to avoid missing them!
