From up here, the view is simply better…

Since forever, people have been climbing to higher points to get a better view. Who doesn’t want to have a better view? Nowadays climbing is a sport and for some even an extreme sport. We will take you on a climbing trip around the world! You can leave the binoculars at home because the view will be great even without them.

Fontainebleau, France

Boulder enthusiasts in the forest of Fontainebleau.

55km south of Paris you will find the small town of Fontainebleau and its famous forest, Forêt de Fontainebleau. The forest is the largest contiguous forest area in Western Europe and is famous for its bouldering area. The bouldering area in the forest of Fontainebleau is known worldwide as the place where bouldering was invented. Since 1947 there is a bouldering course here, where you climb from rock to rock without touching the ground. If you plan properly, you will never climb on the same rocks. However, when the weather is good, it can get very crowded at certain spots in the area. The perfect time to go climbing in Fontainebleau is in the spring or fall when the weather is mild but nice.

The barren landscape of Patagonia with the Andes in the background.

At the southernmost tip of South America, another challenge awaits you. Patagonia offers different levels of difficulty and great views. The Fitz Roy is a popular climbing destination, but only a few manage to reach the top because the 3400m high mountain is very difficult to climb. Extreme and unpredictable weather as well as its shape pose a challenge for many climbers. Nevertheless, the mountain is a highlight in Los Glacìeres National Park. There is much to see and discover here and even small climbs are rewarded with a great view.

Railay Beach, Thailand

In Railay Beach, Thailand you climb in an incredible environment with lots of nature and surrounded by crystal clear water.

Railay Beach is located in the southern Thai province of Krabi, a peninsula in the Andaman Sea. However, the humidity and heat here are very high and the mosquitoes can be very annoying. The best time for a climbing trip is November to March, as you avoid the rainy season and wet, slippery rocks.
