Hello guys n gals! My name is Zoltán I'm a Hungarian guy and I will be your friend as well as your guide during this journey. I speak English and French as well as Hungarian. I've always been an outdoor kinda person I love to travel, appreciate the known and experience the yet unknown. I love mountain biking and hiking alone as well as organizing hikes for friends or colleagues. This is the first trip that I organize for JoinMyTrip and I'm eager to begin the adventure! I'm looking for 4 - 8 trip mates # individuals, friends, couples, and families are equally welcome I want to show you a little bit about my country and my home region and give you a reason for wanting to come back for more! I set up a program that's flexible enough so we all can get the best out of this trip! This spring we shall visit some of the less-known attractions in Budapest first then head for the northern shore of Central Europe's largest lake where a guest house is waiting for us.🏡 This year the European Capital of Culture is my hometown Veszprém which is situated 15km north by the road of Lake Balaton and is the county seat (or capital ) of likely named county. Geographically Veszprém is centrally located between Mounts Bakony and the Balaton Highlands. The city dates back to the 9th century. Veszprém was the favorite city of Queen Gisela, the wife of St. Stephen. During our stay, the Gisela Days (Gizella napok) Celebration takes place with many cultural programs that we may also enjoy on the evenings 🙂 In the following days, we shall visit Keszthely, Badacsony, Balatonfüred, Sümeg, and Tihany and immerse ourselves in history and culture. Medieval castle games with a feast, veteran car show, and season-opening yachting race just to mention a couple of highlights during this vacation. We may also go on a little hike, bike or horseback riding in the hills, or paddling on the lake as a whole group or just a few of us. Budapest
Tag 1-2
Budapest the wonderful. The Hungarian capital will be our meeting place for this trip. We'll spend the first night here in a fine guesthouse that's located about 15 minutes car or bus ride from the airport. Rooms with double beds, bathroom, TV, and free WiFi. Dogs and cats are also allowed.🙂 After everyone has arrived hopefully by late afternoon and settled in at the house we'll go on an evening boat course on the Danube river and get to know one another properly while we'll have dinner or cocktails according to your preferences. Then we may follow up with a nice evening stroll on the bank of the Danube before heading back to our accommodations for a good night's sleep. Tuesday. We begin our first full day together with a breakfast provided by the guesthouse,.then we go exploring the capital, visiting some of the less-known attractions such as the Szamos Chocolate Museum or the Zwack House before visiting the must-see places like Heroes Square and The Castle via The House of Horror Museum. There are hundreds of programs and places to our choosing! On quitting Budapest late afternoon we'll stop at the Memento Park - a unique statue park that showcases the time of communist dictator in Hungary - before continuing our way to Balatonalmádi which is located on the north shore of Lake Balaton and where our second accommodation awaits for us. This guest house is about 10 minute's walk from the beach. We'll agree on visiting a restaurant in town or having dinner delivered.

Balatonalmádi
Tag 2-7
From Tuesday evening until Sunday morning the day of departure, this town will be our home base for the rest of the trip, the starting as well as the ending point of all the wonderful day trips planned for you! 🙂 The guest house has six separate apartments each with its own private bathroom and double beds, three of them have their own kitchen the others share a big size central dining and cooking area that can host a large friendly gathering. Free WiFi in each apartment. There's a large terrace and a garden with facilities for outdoor sports and BBQ. Dogs and cats are equally welcome 🙂 In the evenings there's the option of visiting The Gisela Days Celebrations or the Theater in Veszprém which is less than 15km away, also here in town as well as in neighboring towns spring and summer bring along various programs to choose from.

Veszprém

Wednesday morning we're going to the city of queens, Veszprém. This historical town was built on seven hills in the ninth century and as it was the favorite city of Queen Gisela, wife of St. Stephen for centuries Hungarian queens were crowned here by the bishop of Veszprém. We'll admire the Castle and the surrounding areas of the historical inner town.

Sümeg

On this Wednesday afternoon we'll go to Sümeg and immerse ourselves in medieval times, wander around this fortified castle, take in the magnificent views of the surrounding countryside from the high walls, enjoy historically themed shows, music and food. Don't forget to bring along your cameras📸

Tihany
Tag 7
On Thursday we'll have a lazy day where everyone can wander on their own or just stay in the house and relax. A guide of local and neighboring attractions, nice spots, restaurants, galeries, activities and sports facilities will be provided. There's a program for late afternoon when we'll visit Tihany arguably the most picturesque spot on the lake and admire the Benedictine Abby which was constructed in 1055 on top of a steep hill.

Keszthely

On Friday we are going to Keszthely a town that's located at the western end of Lake Balaton and traces its origins back to Roman Times. The world-famous Festetics Castle is often mentioned as the Hungarian Versailles for its magnificence which we will take ample time to admire during an official tour led by a specialist of the Castle and which is available in English, French, Russian, German, Italian, Spanish as well as Hungarian. Here we may choose of different tour options in and around the Castle. The town itself is worth a visit as well. If we have enough time left and the interest is there we may go to Hévíz Thermal Baths situated nearby.

Balatonfüred

On Saturday our day trip takes us to Balatonfüred first where the Concours d'Elegance veteran car show and the official season opening ceremony of the yachting season will be taking place. Balatonfüred is the most popular holiday town on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. We spend the morning here before continuing to Badacsonytomaj later in the afternoon.

Badacsony
Tag 7
Badacsonytomaj is a little town in the Badacsony wine region where we'll have the opportunity to visit one of the family-owned wineries, familiarize ourselves with the procedures of winemaking and taste their productions. Crowning this Saturday the family invites it's guests to dinner. This dinner will also be our last program together before returning to our accommodations and preparing for leaving the next morning. Sunday morning we return to Budapest and bid one another farewell.
