Hi, guys! This time around, we are going to explore northern Italy, during a long weekend together! Over the course of these two and a half days, we’ll explore three different areas: Lake Como, Bergamo, Liguria and Milan! On the first day, we will meet directly at Milan Central station 🚄 on Thursday (the time will be announced in detail in advance. But for now you can consider a time slot in-between 11.30 AM-2 PM)! It will absolutely be possible to arrive early for solo explorations (the day before should be even better, to avoid arrival delays).
But first… it’s-a me, Giulia! I'm the typical Italian girl, raised on Margherita Pizza 🍕 and weird hands gestures! I love meeting new people and getting to know new cultures. Whether you are looking for a new friend, a new mum or a new mascotte, I can be the one for you 😬!
Where are we staying? 🏡 Our accommodation will be situated in northern Milan: —> Apartment: 2 connected rooms, 1 double bed (2 girls) + 2 single beds (2 boys), 1 bathroom What about the transportation?🚙 As you have probably guessed, 😆 we are going to move around mainly by car 🚗! I’ll be your private driver! As for Milan, instead, for the most central areas, we are going to travel by Subway 🚇 (you can estimate about 2.20€ per ride). The trip costs include 💰: - Accommodation - Car & Toll Booths (Gasoline NOT included) - In Como: funicular round-trip ticket - In Como: GreenWay return bus - In Liguria: underground Cave Entrance Ticket - Free Wi-Fi at the accommodation (I still recommend you buying a Tourist SIM online, so that you can be connected wherever you prefer, whenever you feel like it.). - Travel Insurance (unluckily, for now, provided only for travellers from Germany and Austria) What is not included 💸: - Flights/trains (Nevertheless, prices to Milan from major European cities are currently very affordable, between 30 and 150 euros. They can be a little more expensive coming outside Europe.) - Meals - Gasoline (We will update in real time the expenses through Splitwise so that everything will be equally distributed without any additional costs. But it won't be more than 35/40€). - Subway Transportation in Milan (You can consider more or less 5€) - Other activities not mentioned in “The trip costs include” - Travel Insurance (except travelers from Germany and Austria) ❕ IMPORTANT GUIDELINES: —> It will be mandatory for this specific trip to be lightly equipped, as we will be sharing a car with 4 of us, and the trunk will only be one 🤓! I suggest a backpack for the all load and a small bag 🎒 for the daily explorations. —> Always bring some cash 💶. Italy has finally switched to mandatory card payment availability… but the old generations are still in love with their banknotes and coins, so it will be easier to buy stuff in small souvenir and food stores (which are usually the best ones to explore!). —> Dress in layers 🧥: despite its reputation as a hot country, it is not always summer in Italy! Remember to bring at least a couple of sweaters or sweatshirts! —> For the first day, we will leave once you all arrive at the meeting point. At the latest, we will leave by lunchtime (or soon after), so it will be essential to book a flight on Thursday morning! The meeting point will be in Milan Central Station, where I will pick you up directly by car. —> Please take into consideration early morning wake up calls (we have plenty to do and only few days!). —> This weekend will involve quite a bit of hiking; although the trails will be pretty easy, we’ll be walking for several hours. So if you’re not a fan of hiking, this might not be the best trip for you! —> Regarding this specific trip, the preferred age range has been set between 25 and 35 years old. If you are 2 or 3 years older or younger than the established limit, we can discuss it together to see if it’s still feasible. This decision is not intended to discriminate against anyone, but is due to the particularly small number of participants. For any other question or curiosity, don’t mind sending me a message here on JoinMyTrip (unfortunately, if you just click on the "interest button" I cannot contact you for further details)! Can’t wait to meet you soon 🤗, Giulia *The activities planned may be subject to variation based on both the weather and the number of TripMates. Every change to the original plan will be notified in advance and another option/experience will be provided instead.

Bergamo alta
Tag 1-2
Estimated driving hours (in total throughout the afternoon): about 1 and a half. On the first day, we will actually meet at Milan Central station. Then after a brief stop at our apartment we will leave for Bergamo. First we will stop to Crespi d’Adda, for a quick visit. Crespi is a perfectly preserved late-19th-century workers' village and UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by the Crespi family as an Utopistic ideal city where the factory and housing form a single harmonious whole. Right after we will leave for a late afternoon exploration of Bergamo Alta: a medieval village frozen in time, protected by the majestic Venetian walls (another UNESCO World Heritage Site). At its heart lies Piazza Vecchia, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. The village itself is a labyrinth of cobblestone alleys offering breathtaking views of the plains and the Alps, blending Renaissance art with centuries-old culinary traditions. In the late evening we will head back to Milan, take a shower, and then enjoy a late aperitif at a local pub.

Verezzi
Tag 2-3
Estimated driving hours (round trip): about 5h Our second day together we'll se us wake up reaaaaally early! As a matter of fact quite of a drive expect us. Although it is "Cinque Terre" that are always the talk of international tourism, there is an area of the Ligurian coastline still unknown to most, but just as magical. Finale Ligure (literally, the end of Liguria) & Verezzi offer amazing food 🍝, endless coastline and breathtaking views, far from the tourist hustle and bustle, and difficult to reach without a car. As soon as we arrive, we’ll kick off the day with a short, 1 hour-long hike to an amazing viewpoint: La Grotta dei Falsari. Late in the morning, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved focaccia while relaxing with a picnic on the beach. In the early afternoon, we’ll head to Borgio for a tour of the famous caves. Around 7PM, after an aperitif with a view (in the stunning Verezzi), we'll head back to Milan.

Lake Como
Tag 3-4
Estimated driving hours (in total throughout the day): about 3h Como is a world renowned tourist destination and thousands of people flock there every year to explore the impressive lake and the surrounding natural landscape. First thing in the morning, we’ll get up early (but a little later than the day before 😉) and set off for an a hike along the Lake Como Greenway. The Greenway is one of Italy’s most charming walking trails: a gentle 10-kilometer stroll that winds along the western shore of the lake, partly following the ancient Via Regina. We will then return to the car by bus and leave for the center of Como, where we will visit the splendid Cathedral, explore the lakefront and take the funicular to Brunate, with its lavish old villas and breathtaking views across the lake. EXTRA ACTIVITY (depending on the time we have left): at last we will head to Orrido di Nesso, a deep natural canyon nestled in the heart of a medieval village, where the force of two streams converges into a spectacular waterfall that plunges into the lake. Its most iconic feature is the ancient Ponte della Civera, a stone arch spanning the water that offers a magical, timeless view. In the late afternoon we will head back to Milan, take a shower and then enjoy a nice dinner together at a local restaurant.
