Antigua Guatemala
Tag 1-4
After picking you up at Guatemala City Airport—yes, I’ll be there for you—we’ll dive straight into local life by hopping on a classic chicken bus. This colorful ride takes us to Antigua, Guatemala’s most charming town and former capital. Antigua will win you over instantly: cobblestone streets, volcano views, vibrant local markets, colonial architecture, and incredible food. We’ll explore the town, soak up the culture and vibe, and end one evening with a fun salsa dance night. We’ll stay here for two nights, giving us time to acclimatize, connect as a group, and prepare both mentally and physically for the adventure ahead.

Volcán de Fuego
Tag 4-6
Next, we head out for one of Guatemala’s most iconic adventures: Volcán Acatenango with views of Volcán de Fuego. We’ll be picked up directly in Antigua, enjoy a short drive, and fuel up with a healthy breakfast before starting the hike. The ascent to basecamp takes around 4–5 hours at a steady pace. After a well-earned rest and lunch, and if weather conditions allow, we’ll hike closer to Volcán de Fuego to witness its powerful lava eruptions from a front-row perspective—an unforgettable experience. Back at camp, we’ll enjoy dinner and get some proper rest. In the middle of the night, we’ll wake up for the final ascent, climbing higher to greet one of the most spectacular sights imaginable: sunrise over an active volcano, with the entire valley glowing below us. After descending back to basecamp and continuing all the way down to the trailhead, transport will be waiting to take us to our next destination—Lake Atitlán and the charming lakeside town of Panajachel.

Panajachel
Tag 6-9
This is where we slow down and recharge. Lake Atitlán is the perfect place to rest after the volcano hike, surrounded by water, mountains, and pure calm. From Panajachel, we’ll explore small indigenous communities and villages on the other side of the lake, take a short scenic hike, and visit a beautiful nature park. One evening, we’ll enjoy a relaxed BBQ by the lake, sharing stories as the sun sets. Panajachel itself is a joy to wander—easygoing, charming, and peaceful. And the views? Three majestic volcanoes rising straight from the lake, creating one of the most breathtaking landscapes you’ll ever see

Flores
Tag 9-11
After our relaxing time at Lake Atitlán, we head back to Guatemala City and take a short flight north to Flores, marking the beginning of the final and most powerful chapter of this adventure. We’ll base ourselves for two nights on Flores Island, once one of the last independent Mayan settlements before being captured by the Spanish. Today, it’s a charming island town with colorful streets, lake views, and a relaxed traveler vibe—perfect for transitioning into the jungle experience ahead. After breakfast, we’ll head out to explore Tikal, one of the most important and impressive Mayan cities ever built. Rising above the jungle canopy, its massive temples and ancient plazas feel straight out of a movie—no coincidence, as George Lucas drew inspiration from Tikal when creating Star Wars. History, scale, and atmosphere collide here, setting the tone for what’s still to come.

Carmelitas
Tag 11-16
The day of our greatest adventure has arrived. We leave before sunrise in a 4×4 jeep, heading deep into the Petén region until we reach the last settlement before the jungle. The road ends here. We load our gear onto horses, organize supplies, and step into the wild. From this point on, it’s a true expedition: 100 km over 5 days and 4 nights, trekking through dense rainforest toward the legendary lost city of El Mirador. We’ll sleep at archaeological base camps in proper tents, with access to basic showers and bathrooms. The jungle itself is unpredictable—conditions depend on recent rains. It may be dry, or it may be wet, muddy, and demanding, with flooded paths, wetlands, and river crossings. Personally, I love the wet jungle—it delivers the purest sense of adventure. Along the way, we may encounter monkeys, countless birds, snakes, and spiders. And maybe—if we’re lucky—a jaguar. I’ve never seen one face to face, but I’ve found their footprints near our tents and along the trail… and I’m still hoping. When we finally reach El Mirador, we settle into the ancient city and slow down. We’ll have a full day to explore this vast Mayan metropolis, climbing pyramids, including La Danta, to watch the sunrise above a sea of jungle, enjoy star-filled nights, and simply sit in silence above the treetops. This is where your most powerful and unforgettable memories will be shaped. After two nights in the Mayan citadel, we turn back toward civilization—still 50 km and two days of trekking ahead—carrying stories, perspective, and a sense of accomplishment few people ever experience.

Flores
Tag 16-17
After leaving the jungle behind, we return to Flores city and the island—this time with a completely different feeling. The hard part is done. Now it’s time to celebrate what we’ve achieved. A proper shower, comfortable beds, great food, and a few well-earned drinks by the lake mark the end of an incredible journey. We’ll laugh, share stories from the trail, and fully absorb what we’ve just experienced together. You won’t leave the same person you were when this adventure began.
