Río Azul Retreat — Build, Learn & Live Wild in Patagonia Join me in El Bolsón, Argentina, for an immersive 10-day retreat on the banks of the Río Azul — a mix of mountain adventure, hands-on building, and off-grid living. Learn new skills, help shape an eco-retreat from the ground up, and explore one of Patagonia’s most breathtaking river valleys. The Setting This property is unlike anywhere else — where the Río Azul meets the Río Raquel, with over a kilometer of pristine river frontage and the untouched Raquel Valley just behind. Clean mountain air, starry skies, and glacial water define daily life here. It’s remote enough to feel wild, yet close enough to reach the artisan town of El Bolsón for supplies or markets. The Experience This is not a resort — it’s an evolving project where you can be part of something real. We’ll spend a few days doing hands-on creative work: carpentry, welding, off-grid power systems, gardening, land navigation, or milling lumber from local timber. I provide all materials, tools, and guidance — you bring curiosity, teamwork, and willingness to learn and perhaps share. The rest of the week is for adventure and connection: hike the trail to Refugio hielo Azul, rock climb at "cabeza de Indio, visit nearby saunas, share meals by the fire, and relax under the southern stars.

About Me I’ve spent 12 years traveling the world — mining gold in Honduras, trapping possums in New Zealand, planting trees in Australia, climbing cell towers in the U.S., farming organically, and sailing across oceans. I even crossed the North Atlantic solo. Now I’ve settled here to caretake and revive this land, turning it into a sustainable eco-retreat that celebrates minimalism, craftsmanship, and deep connection to place.

This is a one-of-a-kind chance to experience Patagonia as both traveler and creator. You’ll leave with new skills, new friends, and a sense of belonging to something wild and meaningful. Includes: Accommodation on-site (rustic cabin) Shared meals Materials, tools & instruction for projects Guided excursions and sauna access Best for: nature lovers, makers, adventurers, and anyone craving a reset.

Day 1 — Arrival in Patagonia Airport pickup in Bariloche and a scenic drive to the lodge. We settle in, share a welcome dinner, and get to know each other around the big table. Easy, warm, simple. Day 2 — First Build & First River Morning intro to tools and the project. We start building together — slow, steady, fun. Afternoon walk to the river for a swim or mate in the shade. Dinner at the lodge. Day 3 — Build + Explore El Bolsón More hands-on work in the morning. In the afternoon we head into El Bolsón: artisan market, ice cream, small town vibes. Optional bakery stop (highly recommended). Day 4 — Sauna / Deck / Project Progress We continue shaping the project — framing, leveling, joining. You’ll learn real skills. Afternoon forest walk or viewpoint hike. Relaxed evening with good food. Day 5 — Free Adventure Day (optional add-ons) This is your choice day. You can go horseback riding, rafting, or take a guided hike (these cost extra). Or just slow down — journal, read, explore the river. Day 6 — Final Build Push + Fire Night We put the finishing touches on the project. Afternoon swim in the Río Azul. At night we gather for a fire or stargazing — the Southern Cross if we're lucky. Day 7 — Rest, Wander, Connect A slow morning. Optional breathwork or cold plunge. A walk to a hidden lookout. Shared dinner and reflections on the week — what we built, learned, and lived. Day 8 — Departure Last breakfast together. Pack up, hugs, and the drive back to Bariloche Airport. A soft landing back into the world.
