DAY 1. ARRIVAL DAY â CASABLANCA | 04.04 Welcome to Morocco! Our journey begins in Casablanca (or simply "Casa," as the locals call it). Think of this city as the grand foyer to the Moroccan fairy tale weâre about to live. Itâs vibrant, modern, and the perfect place to find our feet. Once weâve dropped our bags at our perfectly situated home base, weâre hitting the ground running. Weâll start with the heavy hitters: the breathtaking Hassan II Mosque. Itâs one of the largest in the world, boasting a 210-meter minaret that dominates the skyline. Afterward, weâll step back in time at Rickâs CafĂŠâa stunning, real-life recreation of the bar from the 1942 Hollywood classic, Casablanca. But we arenât just here for the postcards. Weâre going to feel the city. Whether weâre hopping in a taxi, using public transit, or wandering on foot, weâll immerse ourselves in Casaâs unique energy. Itâs a fascinating blend: youâll see the lingering elegance of French colonial architecture, the deep roots of Muslim culture, and a bold, youthful spirit thatâs rushing toward the future. Itâs the old world meeting the new, and itâs the perfect start to our 15-day adventure.

DAY 2. TRAIN CASABLANCA â MARRAKECH (2h) | 05.04 TOUR 1. Moroccan Cooking Class Hopefully, youâve slept off the jet lag, because today weâre hitting our stride! Weâre leaving the coast behind and heading for the "Red City." To get there, weâll be boarding a modern Moroccan marvel: the high-speed train to Marrakech. It offers some of the most picturesque landscapes in the country, and because I want us to travel in style, weâre doing this journey in First Class. Lean back, enjoy the views, and watch the scenery shift from urban bustle to desert gold. Once weâve checked into our charming Marrakech riad, weâre diving straight into a hands-on Cooking Class. I have a specific reason for placing this on Day 2: Moroccan cuisine is legendary, but itâs also incredibly bold. To help your palate (and your stomach!) adjust, weâre using this class as our "Culinary Orientation." Instead of just guessing at a menu, youâll learn the secrets of the spices directly from a local expert. Itâs the perfect bridge to the local culture, giving you the "insider knowledge" on what to eat and how itâs prepared. Pro tip: This is the best time to ask all your burning questions! After a busy day of travel and new flavors, weâll take it easy tonight. We have two incredible nights in this city, so letâs recharge our batteries. Youâll need your strength for the magic we have planned for tomorrow.

DAY 3. MARRAKECH. CITY WALK 06.04 Rise and shine! Today, weâre immersing ourselves in the heartbeat of the "Red City." Marrakech earned its nickname from the stunning terracotta hues of its buildings, but the real magic is found in its energy. Weâll spend the morning navigating the vibrant, maze-like Medina and the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square. I have a curated "must-see" list of cultural sites ready for us, but I know the best travel moments often happen in the gaps. If you feel like getting lost in the souks to hunt for the perfect leather bag or hand-woven rug, go for it! This city is a shopperâs paradise. Personally? Iâll be heading toward the center of the action to find the best vantage point for the legendary snake charmers. Once our feet are tired from the cobblestones, a true Moroccan "WOW" moment awaits: a Traditional Hammam. This isn't just a bath; itâs a ritual. Weâre talking a full-body exfoliation with a Kessa glove and traditional black soap infused with relaxing herbs, followed by a purifying Ghassoul clay wrap. If you want to reach a state of total bliss, I highly recommend adding the Organic Argan Oil Massage. Thereâs nothing quite like a full-body treatment using premium, liquid-gold Moroccan argan oil to restore your energy. By the time weâre done, youâll feel like royalty, ready for the next leg of our journey.

DAY 4. MARRAKECH - AIR BALLOON - MARRAKECH 07.04 Weâre starting today before the sun even thinks about rising, but trust meâitâs worth every lost minute of sleep. Weâre heading out to see the Marrakech countryside from a completely different perspective: a Hot Air Balloon. There is something truly magical about floating silently above the landscape as the first rays of light hit the Atlas Mountains. Weâll join a group of fellow "sky-high" adventurers to toast the sunrise from the clouds. If youâre looking for a "WOW" moment to fill your camera roll, this is definitely the one. Once weâre back on solid ground, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy the vibrant energy of Marrakech one last time. Maybe thereâs a cafĂŠ you missed or a specific corner of the Medina you want to revisit? While youâre out exploring, Iâll be handling the "boring" (but vital!) logistics. Iâll be finalizing our arrangements and picking up our rental car. Why? Because tomorrow, the real adventure begins as we leave the city behind and hit the open road. Get some good rest tonightâweâre officially starting our Moroccan road trip in the morning!

DAY 5. MORNING. MARRAKECH - ESSAOUIRA 08.04 2 hr 52 min (177 km) Wake up and get those bags ready! Today, we leave the red walls of Marrakech behind and head toward the Atlantic. If you need a nap in the car, I wonât judgeâbut don't sleep too soundly, or you might miss one of Morocco's most surreal sights: the climbing goats! Yes, keep your eyes peeled for goats balanced on the branches of Argan trees. Itâs a quirky, "only-in-Morocco" moment you have to see to believe. Our first major stop is Essaouira, the "Wind City of Africa." This isn't just a coastal town; itâs a bohemian dream. Weâll explore the UNESCO-listed Medina, famous for its striking white-and-blue architecture. For the Game of Thrones fans, weâll walk the Sqala de la Villeâthe historic sea walls that served as a filming location for the show. And obviously, we canât visit a fishing port this famous and not try the seafood. Weâre going to dive into the freshest sardines and local catches right by the water.

DAY 5. AFTERNOON. ESSAOUIRA - TAGHAZOUT - AGADIR 08.04 3 hr min (176 km) As we continue south, the vibe shifts from historic to "salt-life." Weâre stopping in Taghazout, the undisputed Surf Capital of Morocco. Even if you aren't catching a wave at the legendary Anchor Point, youâll love the laid-back, digital-nomad energy here. Weâll take a moment to appreciate the traditional blue fishing boats and the village's vibrant fish stalls. After a day of salt air and scenic drives, weâll land in Agadir. Itâs been a long day of exploration, so weâll find a perfect spot for a relaxed dinner before crashing at our accommodation. Designerâs Note: Iâve built some flexibility into today. If weâre enjoying the vibe in one spot a little too much, we can always save some of our Agadir exploration for tomorrow morning!

DAY 6. AGADIR - AGAFAY "STONE DESERT" 09.04 2 hr 42 min (230 km) Today, weâre taking it slow. Weâll start with a relaxed breakfast overlooking the Atlantic, catching any sights we missed yesterday in Taghazout or the modern city of Agadir. Take a deep breath of that salty airâweâre about to trade the blue of the ocean for the gold and ochre of the High Atlas foothills. Our destination today is Agafay. While many people think "desert" means sand dunes, Agafay offers something perhaps even more striking: a "Stone Desert." Imagine a barren, lunar-like terrain of white and brown undulating hills that look like they belong on another planet. Itâs a place of deep tranquility and raw beauty, offering a spectacular alternative to the distant Sahara. We aren't just visiting; weâre staying. Weâll be settling into a desert camp (glamping) or desert villa right in the heart of this rocky wilderness. There are two things you absolutely cannot miss here: 1. The Golden Hour: Watching the sunset turn the desert floor into liquid gold with the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. 2. The Night Sky: With almost zero light pollution, Agafay is one of the best places on Earth for stargazing. The night is yours to shape. If youâre feeling the energy of the desert, we can enjoy a traditional dance show around the campfire. If youâre craving peace, itâs the perfect time for some self-reflection or meditation under a canopy of a million stars. Letâs stay the night and see if the legends of Agafay are true.

DAY 7. AGAFAY - COL DU TICHKA (2260 M) MNT PASS - AĂT BENHADDOU - OUARZAZATE 10.04 4 hr 24 min (238 km) I hope youâre feeling adventurous because today weâre tackling one of the most legendary drives in Africa! Weâre heading for the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, the highest major mountain pass in North Africa. Reaching an elevation of 2,260 meters (7,415 ft), this route was built by the French in 1936 along ancient caravan trails. Buckle up for dramatic hairpin turns and sweeping panoramic views as we wind through the rugged High Atlas Mountains. This pass is the gateway that connects the plains of Marrakech to the edge of the Sahara. Once we cross the pass, the landscape shifts into the cinematic world of the South - The "Hollywood of Africa". Weâll spend our afternoon exploring two world-famous locations: * AĂŻt Benhaddou: A UNESCO World Heritage site and a breathtaking example of ancient earthen clay architecture. Youâll recognize this 17th-century fortified village from Gladiator, The Mummy, and as the city of Yunkai in Game of Thrones. Walking through these "ksars" (fortified houses) feels like stepping back 400 years in time. * Ouarzazate: Known as the "Gateway to the Sahara," this city is home to Atlas Studios. Weâll explore the dramatic desert landscapes that provided the backdrop for Lawrence of Arabia and Kingdom of Heaven. After soaking in the cinematic history and enjoying dinner in town, weâll drive just a little further. Iâve planned this "extra mile" tonight to eat up some of tomorrowâs distance, ensuring our next day remains relaxed and enjoyable. Itâs been a long, epic day of mountain peaks and movie sets. Youâve earned a good nightâs sleep!

DAY 8. MORNING OUARZAZATE - DADĂS GORGES - VALLĂE DES ROSES 11.04 6 hr 13 min (399 km) Welcome to another spectacular day! Today, we trade the movie sets for natureâs own masterpieces as we head deep into Moroccoâs famous canyons and valleys. Our primary target is the Dadès Gorges. This area is legendary for its dramatic, narrow canyons and striking red rock formations. Keep your eyes peeled for the "Monkey Fingers"âunique sandstone cliffs eroded over centuries into strange, hand-like shapes. Weâll also conquer the gorgeâs most famous feature: a spectacular, winding road with hairpin turns that offer the ultimate birdâs-eye view of the valley below. As we navigate between the High Atlas and the Jbel Saghro ranges, we enter a region known as the "Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs." The scenery here is a beautiful contradiction: rugged, dry mountains overlooking lush, green, palm-lined river valleys. Weâll drive through Traditional Berber Villages, where life still moves at an ancient pace, and head straight to the Valley of Roses. This fragrant region is the heart of Moroccoâs rose water production. Depending on the season, the air here is incredibly sweet, and weâll have the chance to see how this "liquid gold" is distilled.

DAY 8. AFTERNOON. VALLĂE DES ROSES - DUNES D'ERG CHEBBI 11.04 6 hr 13 min (399 km) Once weâve stocked up on aromatic souvenirs from the Valley of Roses, weâre heading straight for the horizon. Our destination is the legendary Erg Chebbi, home to Moroccoâs most iconic, massive orange-hued dunesâsome towering over 150 meters high. This is the moment youâve been waiting for. Weâll leave our car behind and meet our desert guides to begin a traditional "caravan-style" camel trek. As we ride deeper into the golden sea of sand, youâll watch the dunes shift in color from pale gold to deep ochre. Our guide planned a very specific stop for us: weâll climb to the crest of a towering dune just in time to witness a Sahara sunset. Watching the sun dip below the infinite horizon is an experience that stays with you forever. Forget everything you know about camping. Weâll arrive at our luxury desert camp, where a refreshing welcome drink awaits. Youâll settle into a private, beautifully appointed tent featuring comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, and all the modern amenities youâd expect from a high-end retreat. As night falls, weâll enjoy a traditional Moroccan feast under the vast desert sky. Afterward, weâll gather around the campfire for the hypnotic rhythm of Berber drums and music. This is my favorite part of the trip. While we sit under a blanket of countless stars, Iâll share some of my favorite "insider" facts and funny stories about life in the desert. Itâs the perfect end to a truly unforgettable day.

DAY 9. DUNES D'ERG CHEBBI - ZIZ CANYON GARGANTAS - MIDELT 12.04 4 hr 4 min (263 km) Weâll start the day before dawn to catch the sunrise over the Algerian border. Seeing the desert ignite with the first morning light is a moment that never gets old. After a final breakfast at our camp, weâll make our way back to Merzougaâwhether you want one last camel ride or prefer to hop in the back of a 4x4 for a faster exit, the choice is yours! Once reunited with our car, weâre heading north. Weâll be taking the historic Route 13, crossing the High Atlas via the famous Tunnel du LĂŠgionnaire. Built in the 1930s, this passage marks a dramatic shift in the landscape. Welcome to the Ziz Canyon (Gorges du Ziz). Prepare for a breathtaking contrast: towering Jurassic limestone cliffs standing guard over the lush, emerald-green palm groves of the Ziz Valley. Itâs the perfect place to pull over, stretch our legs, and snap some incredible photos of the vast "palmeraies" below. Our destination tonight is Midelt, perched in the high plains between the High and Middle Atlas ranges. Known as the "Apple Capital of Morocco," Midelt offers a refreshing, cooler climate and a unique look into Berber mountain culture. This region is a haven for geology lovers. Nearby Mibladen is famous for its mineral-rich mines, particularly lead and vanadinite. Keep an eye out for local vendorsâthey often sell unique, colorful mineral specimens that make for a truly one-of-a-kind souvenir. After the heat of the desert, weâll enjoy the crisp mountain air of Midelt. Weâll settle in here for the night, recharging for the final leg of our Moroccan odyssey.

DAY 10. MIDELT - IFRANE - FES 13.04 3 hr 56 min (210 km) After breakfast, we leave the "Apple City" behind and head into the Middle Atlas. Get ready for a bit of a surpriseâour first stop is Ifrane, a town so tidy and uniquely designed that itâs known as the "Switzerland of Morocco." Developed by the French in the 1930s to resemble an Alpine village, it features red-tiled roofs, flower-lined streets, and a climate that feels more like the Pyrenees than North Africa. It is consistently ranked as one of the cleanest and safest towns in the country. Weâll stop for a photo with the iconic Stone Lion Statue in the city center before moving into the wilder side of the region. Just outside the town lies the Ifrane National Park, home to a vast, ancient cedar forest. Weâll take a moment to breathe in the fresh mountain air and feel the energy of the woods. Keep your cameras readyâthis is the home of the endangered Barbary macaques. These rare monkeys are a highlight of the Middle Atlas, and watching them move through the trees is a "WOW" moment for any nature lover. The Afternoon: Entering the Medieval Maze Our journey continues to Fes, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. Fes is home to Fes el-Bali, the worldâs largest car-free urban area and a UNESCO-listed medieval masterpiece, and the Medieval Maze. Fes is the place to find the absolute best craftsmanship in the country. Weâll explore: * The Chouara Tannery: A sensory explosion where leather is still dyed in ancient stone vats. * The University of al-Qarawiyyin: Founded in the 9th century, it is the oldest continuously functioning university in the world. * The Souks: This is your prime opportunity to find world-class pottery, intricate brass work, and high-quality leather goods. After a day of mountain air and ancient history, weâll settle in for a well-deserved dinner. You cannot visit Fes without trying its most famous culinary creation: Pastilla. Itâs a unique, sophisticated sweet and savory pastry (traditionally made with pigeon or chicken) that is the pride of Fassi cuisine. Weâll stay the night in Fes, letting the calls to prayer and the hum of history lull us to sleep.

DAY 11. MORNING. FES - MOULAY IDRISS - VOLUBILIS 14.04 1 hr 16 min (74.0 km) After a relaxed breakfast and a final wander through the Fes medina, weâll load up the car and head toward the most sacred town in Morocco: Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. Perched dramatically across two hills, this town is the burial place of Idris I, the founder of Moroccoâs first Islamic dynasty. For centuries, it was closed to non-Muslims, and even today, it remains one of the most authentic, untouched places in the country. To many locals, multiple pilgrimages here are considered equivalent to a Hajj to Mecca. Weâll take in the traditional charm and deep spiritual energy of this holy site before moving from Islamic history to the era of the Caesars. Just a short drive away lies the Archaeological Site of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the most significant Roman ruin in North Africa, so-called Romeâs African Frontier. Founded in the 3rd century B.C., this was once a bustling outpost on the very edge of the Roman Empire. Iâve left this afternoon open for you to explore at your own pace. Youâll see: * The Mosaics: Incredibly preserved 2nd and 3rd-century floor mosaics that still sit in their original locations. * The Architecture: The massive Triumphal Arch and the Basilica that dominate the skyline. * The Fusion: A unique look at how Roman and indigenous Berber cultures blended together over two thousand years ago. We have the freedom to roam these ancient streets until the sun begins to set. Watching the light hit the Roman columns against the backdrop of the Moroccan countryside is a "WOW" moment you won't want to rush.

Tag 11-13
DAY 11. EVENING. SITE ARCHĂOLOGIQUE DE VOLUBILIS - CHEFCHAOUEN 14.04 3 hr 38 min (190 km) Itâs a bit of a journey to reach our final stop for the day, but I have some great news: weâre settling in here for the next two nights. If youâve ever seen a Moroccan postcard or a travel brochure, youâll immediately recognize where weâre headed. We are making our way into the Rif Mountains to find the most iconic destination in the country: the world-famous "Blue City," Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen is known internationally as the "Blue Pearl" for its striking, distinctively blue-washed buildings, hidden alleys, and ornate doors. Founded in 1471, this town feels like a living dream. Itâs a place where Andalusian architecture meets a relaxed, mystical, and almost "other-worldly" vibe. Weâll have plenty of time to get lost in its azure streets tomorrow. Tonight, our only mission is to arrive, settle into our accommodation, and let the tranquility of the mountains help us recharge. Keep an eye out for the local specialties while weâre here! Chefchaouen is famous for unique woolen garments and woven blankets, but the real star is the Jbenâa delicious, fresh local goat cheese that is a "must-try" for breakfast.

DAY 12. CHEFCHAOUEN - TANGIER (GIBRALTAR) - CHEFCHAOUEN 15.04 4 hr 27 min (227 km) Today, we head to the coast to explore the "Bride of the North"âTangier. This city is legendary for its strategic position as the gateway between Africa and Europe. Itâs a bohemian hub with a storied past, having served as a haven for famous artists and writers like Matisse and Paul Bowles. Weâll dive into a unique blend of African and European influences as we explore: * Cape Spartel: A breathtaking spot where the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea meets the vast green Atlantic Ocean. * The Caves of Hercules: A natural marvel steeped in Greek mythology with an opening to the sea that perfectly resembles the shape of Africa. * The Phoenician Tombs: Ancient stone-carved graves perched on a cliffside, offering a silent window into the city's ancient history. We canât visit Tangier without stopping at CafĂŠ Hafa. This famous cliffside cafĂŠ has been serving mint tea since 1921. Itâs the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the best views of the coast and the Strait of Gibraltar. Because we are at the coast, weâre going to indulge in Tangierâs famous seafood. Weâll look for the best grilled fish, fresh shrimp, and traditional coastal tagines before we make our way back to the blue tranquility of Chefchaouen for the night.

DAY 13. CHEFCHAOUEN - RABAT 16.04 4 hr 14 min (247 km) Finally, we have the morning to ourselves to explore Chefchaouen at a perfectly relaxed pace. Whether you want to wake up late for a traditional breakfast or head back into the medina to grab those woolen blankets and leather bags youâve been eyeingânow is the time. After several days on the road, thereâs a wonderful sense of "pleasant exhaustion" and fulfillment in the air. Weâve seen so much, but Iâve saved one last elegant stop for our journey. Whenever youâre ready, weâll jump back on board and head to Rabat. As Moroccoâs coastal capital, Rabat is a breath of fresh air. Itâs a city where ancient history meets modern, polished charm. Weâll spend our time exploring: * The Kasbah of the Udayas: A stunning, white-washed fortress with winding streets and vibrant Andalusian gardens overlooking the Atlantic. * The Hassan Tower & Mausoleum: Weâll visit the iconic 12th-century minaret and the ornate Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of modern Alouite dynasty architecture. * Chellah: A mystical medieval fortified necropolis that feels like a world of its own. Weâre staying in the heart of the city tonight. Itâs the perfect place to enjoy a final coastal dinner and reflect on the 2,500+ kilometers weâve traveled together. Weâve crossed mountains, deserts, and oceansâtonight, we enjoy the quiet elegance of the capital.

DAY 14. RABAT - CASABLANCA. DEPARTURE DAY. 17.04 1 hr 25 min (92.7 km) Rise and shine! Weâll start the morning by catching any of Rabatâs hidden gems that we didn't have time for yesterday. I always build in this "spare time"âitâs the secret to a stress-free trip. Whether itâs one last walk through the Andalusian gardens or a final look at the Atlantic from the Kasbah walls, weâre in no rush. Once weâve said our goodbyes to the capital, weâll head back toward where it all began: Casablanca. This is our final day on the road, and itâs a short, beautiful coastal drive. Lean back, enjoy the sea breeze, and take in the views of the Atlantic one last time. Youâve officially conquered the Moroccan loop! Our Moroccan adventure has officially come to a close, and itâs time to say our goodbyes. Weâll hop into our trusty rental car one last time for the drive to the airport, where we'll return our "home on wheels" to the company. The Emotional Finish: Saying goodbye to Morocco is hard, but saying goodbye to each other is even harder. After 15 days of shared sunrises, dusty roads, mountain passes, and laughter over tagines, this is always an emotional moment. We might be leaving the "Red City" and the "Blue Pearl" behind, but weâre taking the stories, the "WOW" moments, and these new friendships home with us. Safe travels, and until the next adventure!
