Tsavo West is a stunning park, showcasing natural wonders from the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal-clear water gushing from the parched lava rock at Mzima Springs to the rugged wilderness of the Shetani lava flows. The savanna ecosystem includes open grasslands, scrublands, Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation, and rocky ridges, such as the poacher’s lookout, where visitors can view herds of animals on the plains below. Tsavo West offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world, with attractions including elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes, and diverse plant and bird species, including the threatened corncrake and the near-threatened Basra reed warbler.
