1

Palermo Cathedral

Tag 1
First we'll visit the Duomo di Palermo is truly a magnificent cathedral. Its exterior architecture is absolutely stunning and really eye-catching! The entrance's church is free, but if you want to see more and visit the rooftops, royal tombs, treasures, crypt, dungeons, and underground areas of the cathedral, you’ll need to pay between €1 and €15, depending on the option you choose.
2

Piazza San Domenico

Tag 1
The Piazza San Domenico is located in the neighborhood of La Loggia, on one side of the Via Roma. Formerly known as "Piano Imperiale", it was built in 1640, then later remodeled and expanded to incorporate the Church of San Domenico. Apart from the beautiful Baroque facade of the church, the square is notable for the Monument to the Immaculate Conception that was designed by Tommaso Maria Napoli in the classic Baroque style and then made by Giovanni Amico. To get a good view from above of Piazza San Domenico and the adjacent Via Roma with all the magnificent buildings, we'll go to the 5th floor of the Rinascente department store. From there we'll can enjoy wonderful views – and if we want, delicious snacks and drinks too, as there is a glass-enclosed restaurant and a spacious outdoor terrace.
3

Palermo

Tag 1-2
The capital of Sicily, Palermo, is a must-visit city during our stay this Italian island. This eclectic city boasts multiple influences (Arab, Norman, Byzantine, French, and Spanish) due to the numerous periods of occupation the island has endured from the 8th century until today. Palermo is therefore full of character and rich in history. I’ll share my thoughts on the city and its unmissable sights!
4

Church of Saint Mary 'dell'Ammiraglio'

Tag 2
The Martorana or Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio was built in the 12th century in the Arab-Norman style. Despite numerous restructuring and renovation, the Martorana is known for having incredibly well preserved 12th-century Byzantine mosaics. It is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 2015.
5

Chiesa del Gesù di Casa Professa

Tag 2
This is one of Palermo's most breathtaking churches. The Jesuits first built a church on this site between 1564 and 1578. Incorporated into a larger church in 1633, the building was significantly restored after suffering major bomb damage in WWII. While the church's facade displays relative restraint typical of the late 16th century, its transept, apses and dome burst with 17th-century baroque extravagance. Situated near the bustling Ballarò market, this historic church is a testament to the artistic and spiritual legacy of the Jesuit order in Sicily. Its elaborate interiors and fascinating history make it a must-visit for anyone exploring Palermo.
6

Mercato Ballarò

Tag 2
Then will take a walk in Ballarò, one of the oldest food markets of Palermo and of the most lively and surely picturesque of Sicily. Anyone entering the Ballarò will find it hard to resist its very special charm. At first, you might think it's chaos. But the Ballarò has its very own order, its very own rules. It's a great cultural experience that everyone should try at least once in a lifetime, because this is absolutely one of the best way to experience the unique atmosphere of Sicily. Walking through the outdoor shops and stands, you will be in front of a real example of daily life in Sicily, a melting pot of different cultures and ancient popular traditions. Street markets are also the best place to taste some of the delicious sicilian street food so we'll make a stop there for lunch.
7

Jocu di Focu Art Studio

Tag 2-3
Most people never have the chance to pull back the curtain and see what Artist workspace actually look like. We'll have the chance to visit an Art studio of young sicilian artists and witness masterpieces while they’re still in progress, getting a first-hand look at where the magic happens
8

Terme Segestane

Tag 3-4
Situated in western of Sicily, in the province of Trapani, Segesta is a town steeped in history, with several monuments dating back to ancient Greek times. There is an amphitheatre and a well-preserved temple on a rocky spur at the top of a hill. Segesta is also famous for its thermal baths. In fact, classical baths now stand on the archaeological remains of an ancient thermal monument: Roman baths. To get to this beautiful place, rich in natural resources, we'll have to cross a stream. About ten metres from the crossing, in a corner of the valley, appears the sulphurous spring, whose waters mysteriously flow into a large natural pool. This thermal pool are kind of hidden and lost among the tall grasses that make this place truly unique.
9

Free municipal consortium of Trapani

Tag 4-5
After spending 2 nights in Palermo and one night camp in Segesta, Trapani will be a much welcomed and needed reprieve from our unrelenting journey. You'll see immediately upon our arrival, Trapani had an obviously calming and perhaps unpretentious atmosphere. It’s a lively little city with great nearby beaches, nature reserves, idyllic islands, and ancient temples.
10

Favignana

Tag 5
From trapani we'll take the ferry to go to Favignana one of the three Aegadian Island. We'll rent a bike immediately upon arriving on the island to go to Bue Marino, one of the most picturesque swimming spots on the island. It sits on Favignana’s east coast where tuff rocks, caves, tunnels and cliff carve outs overlook breathtaking patches of deep blue and bright turquoise water. It’s one of my favorite spots on the island for sunbathing and swimming. No facilities, but the cliffs offer up plenty of shady spots on a hot day. The beach is a 15-minute bicycle ride from town. PS : Most of the Favignana coastline is rocky, and it’s honestly quite painful to get to the water barefoot. I recommend bringing water shoes.
11

Palermo

Tag 5
We'll have to make a quick stop to Palerme again to give the car back, maybe have some lunch or a snack somewhere nice and cosy where we can rest a little and then take an 1h train at the main station in Palerme to Cefalù.
12

Cefalù

Tag 5-6
Cefalù is a beautiful old coastal town in Northern Sicily. It is situated on the outskirts of Parca delle Madonie, a National Park and is dominated by the Duomo, a Norman Cathedral, in the main square and La Rocca, a huge rocky mountain which towers over the town. Cefalù is a town, full of winding streets and tiny alleyways with plenty of bars and restaurants, most with terraces that look out over the ocean which are perfect for sunset dinners and drinks. There is an old, historic port as well as beautiful sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters.
13

Temple of Diana

Tag 6
The Temple of Diana in Cefalù is one of the monuments that can be seen when visiting the Rocca that dominates the town. Despite the name, in reality there is still an aura of mystery around this construction. The monument is located about 500 meters from the start of the route and can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot. The climb to the top of the Rocca is almost always sunny. I recommended to visit it early in the morning to avoid the hottest time in the day.
14

Marina Yachting Cefalù

Tag 6
For an unforgettable experience we'll get the chance to get on board of a 109 years old wooden sailing ship in company of an expert Skipper. 4h sailling in the waters of Cefalù. A short stop to swim or snorkel in the sea and then back to Cefalù, where we'll savor a delicious tasting of food and wines made by local farmers and producers.
15

Palermo

Tag 6
This is the day of departure! Everyone will be leaving at different times so there is no set plan for this day. For those who have their flight in the evening we can take the day to visit the Orto Botanico. There are also many museums and gardens to explore. It will depend on what you want. Hopefully, people will have time to wander around together before leaving.
