Hi there👋 my name is Matej and I am a 25-year-old passionate traveler. I study tourism management and this study has enhanced my interest in specific areas where geography and tourism are connected. This includes tourism geography, niche tourism (hiking, slow, rural tourism), world destinations and destination management. I ❤️ exploring off-the-beaten-track destinations that are a combination of mountains, countryside and coast.
I was born in Slovakia and lived there for 20 years. I moved to UK to study at the university. I have been travelling and exploring landscape since I was a child. In the past, I was involved in planning and organising holidays on a voluntary basis 💥
country? ... I don't have a favourite country, but rather a region - the Balkans and Southern Europe ☀️ activity? ... travelling, hiking, running and taking photos 📷 travel experience? ... Probably a morning hike on Crete, when at 4am I went along the road towards the mountain trail. There were no lights anywhere, only the sounds of nature. It was worth it - a beautiful sunrise awaited me in the middle of the Cretan wilderness🌄
It's simple - travel broadens my horizons 🌎 I learn something new with every single trip, I meet a lot of people and discover new places. In addition, travel brings invaluable experiences to my life. I promote the idea of slow tourism🚶♂️ which means intensive perception of the surrounding landscape at a slow pace. Places with rich geomorphological forms, such as gorges, hills, caves etc. have always captivated me.
