I am Marian - Licensed mountain guide and tour guide! Mountains are a real passion for me since childhood... Professional experience: 13 years as a licensed tour and mountain guide. 16 years of experience in hiking/trekking and during this time I was hiking a large part of the Carpathian Chain - the Romanian side. I founded the business in 2007, after I was working in the biggest travel agency in Brasov for 13 years. The main reason for doing this was to promote Romania as an eco destination. In 2008 Active Travel become a Member of the Association of Ecotourism in Romania (AER). In 2019 we were awarded with "Eco-Romania" logo for good practices in ecotourism for 3 hiking programs.
We offer unique private and small group tours from general touring to wildlife viewing, to wilderness trips around Romania which, according to the National Geographic, is on the 7th place in TOP 10 Places to See Autumn Leaves. Transylvania - Best in Travel 2016 according to Lonely Planet. Our goal: to promote responsible, sustainable and durable tourism in Romania.
