Thailand is my home for many good reasons and I’d like to give you the opportunity to experience it with me 🛺 🐘🐅🛕🥢⛱️🌺🍜🥗👨‍🦲☯🙌🏻🌞🌴 🧩 BUT WHY CHOOSE A VEGAN-FOCUSED TRIP? There are a number of good reasons why joining a group of fellow veggie munching travellers can enhance your experience and remove a lot of the annoyances and pressures, and I go into this in much more detail further down this section. 🛺 WHY THAILAND The friendliest people, year-round warm weather, mouthwatering street food, white sandy beaches, floating markets, Gold and Emerald Buddhas, temples, Thai massages, tuk-tuks, ladyboy shows, cold beer, cocktail ‘buckets’. There’s so much to experience in Thailand and the low prices make it an incredibly affordable place to visit and enjoy. 💚 WHAT'S INCLUDED I think it's really important for you to know exactly what you get on a trip and that everything is clear so that you can compare this tour against others. At the end of the day, you should be getting what you pay for at the very least. Therefore, I've put this info first with more specifics below. ✔️ 13 nights in vegan or vegan-friendly hotels (See accommodation below) ✔️ 13 Vegan Breakfasts ✔️ Overnight AC sleeper train (with bed) - Bangkok to Chiang Mai ✔️ All taxis to and from train stations and airports on the trip itinerary ✔️ Flight from Chiang Mai to Phuket inc 22KG total luggage ✔️ Introduction/orientation walk in each new location ✔️ Bangkok City Tour ✔️ Bangkok River boat and canal long boat ✔️ Bicycle tour of Bangkok's Green Lung ✔️ Chiang Mai Songthaew City Tour ✔️ Chiang Mai Night Bazaar ✔️ Chiang Mai 1-day scooter rental and trip to visit Doh Suthep ✔️ Thai massage in Chiang Mai ✔️ Chiang Mai Sunday Night Market ✔️ Phuket Island tour by scooter inc. rental and petrol ✔️ GPS maps of all the best places to visit and eat ✔️ Veggie-based language flash card ✔️ Trip Leader for the full 14 days ✔️ Introduction evening in every new location ✔️ Help with any ongoing journey or return to Bangkok 🔴 WHAT’S NOT ⭕ Travel to and from the trip ⭕ Food except for breakfast ⭕ Activities marked as ‘optional’ in the itinerary ⭕ Travel Insurance ⭕ Tips More information on all the inclusions can be found in the day-to-day itineraries further down the page 🛑 Time Out! - A quick declaimer folks. I’m going to use the term “veggie’ to cover everyone from vegetarians, vegans, whole-food plant-based or anyone who simply wants to try eating more of the green stuff. Everyone is welcome. No lifestyle choice is better than another and if you want to join us and bring along your non-vegan partner or friend, that’s great so long as they respect the group. Let’s be as nice to each other as we are to cows and sheep :) OK, back to the story - I’ve planned an eventful and fun, yet relaxed two-week adventure, sharing your time with like-minded people where we can all be ourselves and focus on enjoying this amazing country. 🏡 ACCOMMODATION All your accommodation in 3-4 star quality vegan or vegan-friendly hotels is included in the price. When possible we’ll stay in vegan hotels and when not I’ll ensure that there are always veggie options available for breakfast and plenty of nearby options to enjoy. Prices are for a same-gender shared twin room with private ensuite facilities. A single-room upgrade will be available. No dorms - No dodgy shared bathrooms. 🥗 MEALS To get each day started without the need to go out searching, I've made sure to include a vegan breakfast every day. I've planned plenty of group meals at street vendors, restaurants, bakeries, beach shacks and more, and every time we arrive at each new location I've planned an introduction night out, but all these are entirely optional and you'll simply pay directly for what you eat. 🌄 ACTIVITIES I’ve included some activities which everyone is sure to enjoy but I’ve also left free time so that we can make our own plans together once we meet up. Everyone will be sent a list of optional activities before the trip. There'll be plenty of options to choose from for both group activities and side trips you can enjoy more independently. And of course, I’ll plan, arrange and book everything for you. Prefer do your own thing once in a while? Not a problem! I can help you find what you’re looking for and get everything booked for you so that you can focus solely on enjoying your time in Thailand We’ll visit Bangkok in the South, Chiang Mai in the mountainous North and the Beautiful Island of Phuket. From these bases, we can also explore further afield by 🛺Tuk-tuk, 🛵Scooters (optional), 🚂Local Train, 🚌 Bus, 🚗 Car, 🚕Taxi, 🚙 Songthaew, 🚴🏻‍♀️ Bicycle, 🚤 Long-tail Boat, 🛳️ Riverboat or 🚶‍♂️on Foot. The full itinerary can be found by scrolling down this page to ‘TRIP ITINERARY’ 🥦 OK, SO WHY A VEGAN TRIP? Vegan Travel comes with its own unique challenges and over the past few years, I've been in so many situations where I, quite frankly, wanted to pull my hair out. I’ve also been on trips as a non-vegan where people were made to feel like a burden on the rest of the group and where the vegetarian “option” of yet another omelette or the vegan “option” of more lettuce and tomatoes masquerading as a salad became something of a joke after a while. 1️ - 👩🏼‍❤️‍👨🏾 THE PEOPLE YOU TRAVEL WITH ARE AS IMPORTANT AS THE PLACES YOU TRAVEL TO Eating out is such a huge part of travelling, especially in Southeast Asia, but eating out as the sole veggie member of a group can be .......challenging 😇 We all know the feeling. The rolling of the eyes, the silent tutting, the unspoken questions of why we have to be ‘so difficult’, how we are constantly having to justify why we're veggie and of course, fending off the seemingly endless attempts to re-convert us to eating meat or asking where we get our protein from 😂 When travelling as a part of a group of like-minded, understanding people, this is no longer something you need to concern yourself with. We’re all on the same page, so we can relax and be ourselves for the entire trip. 2 - 🧘‍♂️ LESS STRESS, MORE MEMORIES Some interaction with the local people is part of the fun, but, if, like me, you prefer to enjoy your journey without the constant need to learn how to say, “is this vegetarian or vegan,” “I don't eat eggs, milk, or dairy", or “does this contain fish or oyster sauce?” in another language with a different alphabet, then a vegan tour is a perfect option. Also, surprisingly in many Asian countries, entirely plant-based diets are uncommon and often misunderstood, with fish sauce, oyster sauce, small prawns and more being added to otherwise 'vegetarian' dishes as standard. So, let me take the stress out of the trip and meal planning so that you can focus on the moment and live the experience. And make use of the free flashcards 🔠 and the GPS-based map 📌of all the best places to visit that I give away as a part of the trip. 3️ - 💚 RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL As a plant-based traveller, I’m also very conscious of my travelling footprint, the effect of tourism on the local people, and the need to enjoy my travels free of cruelty and exploitation towards humans and animals alike. So when you want to visit an elephant sanctuary or a local school, you can do so with the knowledge that you’re doing so responsibly. As a self-choice local here in Thailand I also aim t use small family or community services whenever possible and I never over-haggle with local suppliers. While haggling can be fun and is often expected, it's important to ensure that our local friends are also earning a sustainable and fair income. 🌏 YOUR TRIP - A fuller, detailed itinerary is in the Trip Itinerary section further down the page Our adventures begin in Bangkok where, together we can explore this crazy city, enjoy vegan street food, bicycle through Bangkok's "Green Lung", or venture further afield with visits to Historic Ayutthaya, Thailand's ancient capital, or the Bridge over the River Kwai and Death Railway museum, stopping off at the famous floating markets on-route. Of course, no trip to Bangkok would be complete without a nighttime stroll down the Khao San road by night followed by a cool beer, soda or infamous 'bucket'. An overnight air-conditioned sleeper train takes us to Chiang Mai in the North where we can experience an unforgettable visit to a responsible Elephant Sanctuary, learn how to cook Thai food, vegan style, visit the indigenous hill tribes and the contrasting White Temple and Black House of nearby Chiang Rai. At night the famous Night Bazaar takes over the streets with an array of local crafts and tacky souvenirs tempting you to part with your hard-earned baht. Finally, we fly south to the beautiful island of Phuket for some well-earned downtime on the white sandy beaches. We can enjoy a bit of island hopping to Phi Phi or Maya Bay “The Beach”, or something a little more active like scuba diving, jet skiing, parasailing or trekking. IS EVERYTHING VEGAN-FOCUSED? Definitely NOT! There’s so much more for us to explore and enjoy in Thailand that has nothing to do with being veggie. From Zip Lining adventures above the jungle canopy to learning Thai boxing or Muay Thai. From Kayaking and caving to simply chilling with a cool Thai beer on the beach. However, sharing our journey and experiences with like-minded people who understand us and allow us to be ourselves is a huge added bonus. ✈️ 🗺️ ONWARD TRAVEL? If your journey is continuing after the trip, I can help find the best options. I have great contacts all over Southeast and South Asia to help you get the best deals and continue with a safe and exciting plan. See you in Thailand! 👋🏻

Bangkok

Tag 1-5
Bangkok is one of those legendary cities that is just so full of life. It's one of the most interesting cities I have ever visited and a sensory explosion This loud, vibrant and tantalizing city is the heart of Thailand and is seen as the gateway to South East Asia for most travellers. We’ll be staying in the famous Khao San Road backpackers area next to the Chao Phraya River. -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 1 🧑🏻‍🤝‍🧑🏿 🥣 First things first, we all need to get to know each other and I'm sure many of you will be totally wasted after your long journey. We'll pass by the Grand Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), the Temple Of Dawn (Wat Arun), Wat Pho, Chinatown, the Giant Swing, Jim Thompson's House and much more, stopping off to eat street food to try the local fruits and tasty drinks. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Veggie-Friendly Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Bangkok City Tour Transport: Tuk-tuk - River Boat - Long-tail Boat -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 3 🚴🏻‍♀️ 🍹 Today we leave the city behind without actually leaving the city by exploring Bangkok's Green Lung (Bang Kachao), a 4,800-acre green oasis, by bicycle. Clean air, narrow tracks, no cars, and traditional wooden houses and bridges make this a great way to spend an afternoon in Bangkok. At night why don't we opt for a drink at one of Bangkok's rooftop bars overlooking the vibrant city and grab an Instagram moment? 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Veggie-Friendly Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Bicycle tour of Bangkok's Green Lung (Bang Krachao) Transport: Tuk-tuk and boat to Bang Krachao and return -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 4 🚂 🍈 Today we can escape Bangkok for the day and make our way by train out of the main city to Kanchanaburi to visit the infamous Death Railway and Bridge over the River Kwai made famous in the movie of the same name. On the way back, we can visit the floating markets so abundant in Thailand and try some of the amazing local fruits. Have you ever tried Jackfruit, Durian, Mangosteen or longan? Now's your chance. At night if we're feeling adventurous I can take you across town to visit Patpong, Bangkok's red light district. While not on everyone's Bucket List, Patpong it's a historic part of Bangkok life and an incredibly interesting, friendly and safe place to visit. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Veggie-Friendly Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Chill day with options -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Days 5 🏬🛒 Our final full day in Bangkok so once we check out of the hotel, why don't we grab a tuk-tuk or taxi downtown to one of Bangkok's Famous Shopping Malls to enjoy the air-conditioning and grab some gifts and souvenirs? My personal favourite area is Silom where we can alternate between the International Paragon and Siam malls and the excellent MBK, much loved by locals and visitors alike for its affordable, local choices. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Private berth on the air-conditioned train to Chiang Mai Meals: Breakfast Activities: Chill day with options Transport: Taxi to train station - sleeper train to Chaing Mai -------------------------------------------------------------- OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES Whatever we decide to do together, I'll make all the arrangements and join in on all of the action. And if you'd prefer to have a bit of solo time, that's great too. You can always meet up with the group later. If you need any help with bookings or advice just let me know anytime. Here are a few of my personal favourite things to do while in Bangkok 🌞 DAYTIME 🚉 Take a train to visit the Bridge over the River Kwai, Hellfire Pass museum and Don Rak War Cemetery to remember those who lost their lives during World War. 🚲 Take a Bicycle or Segway City tour around Bangkok's backstreets 🛒 Visit one of Bangkok's famous floating markets 🛕 Visit ancient and historical Ayutthaya 💦 Take in the Erawan Waterfalls tour and Erawan National Park 🏙️ Do some shopping Downtown in one of Bangkok's international shopping malls - Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, MBK and many, many more. 💵 Alternatively visit Chatuchak Market, the world’s largest Weekend Market with over 15,000 stalls 🌙 NIGHTIME 🛺 Wander down the Khao San road, the mecca for backpackers for decades, and enjoy the lively street atmosphere 💃 Take in a unique Ladyboy cabaret show 🦶 Take advantage of the cool evening to relax with a street-side foot massage 🍜 Taste real Thai food, either on the street or at any one of the 100's of restaurants around the city 🍺 Simply grab a seat, order a cool Chiang or Leo beer and do some serious people watching 🏙️ Enjoy the spectacular views from a Bangkok skyscraper rooftop bar -------------------------------------------------------------- 🚝 OVERNIGHT SLEEPER TRAIN TO CHIANG MAI 💤 On leaving Bangkok, we'll take the sleeper train to Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. Chiang Mai

Tag 5-9
No visit to Thailand is complete without a visit to the lush, mountainous North. Chaing Mai is a large city that feels like a small town, especially around the old walled section of town. Being based in Chiang Mai, we can take time out to learn some Thai cooking, enjoy a Thai massage or visit the diversity of temples located inside the city, or venture further afield to visit the mountain hill tribes, tea plantations or the nearby towns of Chiang Rai and Pai. -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 6 We arrive quite early and may not be able to check in straight away, so I'll take you for an orientation walk around the immediate area to get our bearings and find the best local amenities, after which we can stop for breakfast and coffee. After checking into our hotel, I've planned a short City Tour on a traditional Thai Songthaew (a pickup truck with seats and a roof in the back) to give us a chance to learn the local layout, find out where the famous night bazaar is, and decide what group experiences we'll be planning for the days ahead. At night, we can head down to the night bazaar together to grab our first taste of Chiang Mai's vibrant street culture. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Vegan Hotel Activities: City Tour on a traditional Thai Songthaew and visit to the Night Bazaar Transport: Songthaew -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 7 Today we can either visit a local and ethical elephant sanctuary. or explore any of the other options available. Jungle zip-lining anyone? Note: While viewing the elephants in their natural habitat is an incredible experience I do only visit sanctuaries with a hands-off policy. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Vegan Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Chill day with options -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 8 OK let's get adventurous and cultured at the same time. Today we brave the roads on 2-wheels to venture out of Chiang Mai and explore the winding mountain roads up to the Doi Suthep temple in the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. (alternate transport arrangements are available for non-riders) Feel the warm wind in your hair as we climb 1,676 m (5,499 ft) to visit Doi Suthep, one of Thailand's sacred Temples reached via a 306-step staircase - Note: We don't take the scooters for this bit! 🤣 - flanked by naga (mythical sea serpents) and surrounded by breadfruit trees, small shrines, rock gardens and monuments, including a statue of the white elephant that carried the Buddha relic to its current resting place 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Vegan Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Scooter trip to the sacred Doi Suthep Temple Transport: Scooter rental & petrol -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 9 We're over halfway through our trip., so let's all enjoy a traditional Thai massage at a nearby temple, favoured by the locals to ease those aches away and relax the mind? After our massage, we can explore the old town before making our way to Chiang Mai's largest and most famous market, Tha Pae Sunday Walking Street. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Vegan Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Local Thai massage or foot massage (1-hour) -------------------------------------------------------------- OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES My personal favourite things to enjoy in Chiang Mai as a group or on your own. I can organise any of the activities listed and many more for you. 🐘 Visit one of the nearby reputable Elephant Rescue Parks & Sanctuaries 🛶 Go Kayaking or River Tubing ⛰️ Take a Mountain Trek or go Caving 🌄 Enjoy the thrill of a Jungle Zip-Line experience and Aerial Adventure 🥊 Learn Muay Thai Boxing or watch a live evening bout 🌈 Visit Pai, the mountain village beloved by backpackers ☕ Visit Chiang Rai, taking in the region's tea plantations, the incredible White Temple and the contrasting Black House 🌿 Visit the Golden Triangle where Laos, Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) meet and where the region's opium business operated from 🧘🏼‍♂️ Enjoy or learn how to give a Thai Massage 🥣 Learn Thai Cooking, vegan style 🛐 Visit a selection of more than 300 temples (Wats) in Chiang Mai 🎁 Visit Chiang Mai's huge street Night Bazaar 🛵 Rent a scooter and explore to your own timetable

Phuket Island

Tag 9-14
We're flying South to the beautiful Island of Phuket. We've had a fantastic time so far, taking in the incredible sights, sounds and tastes that Thailand has to offer. Surely it's time for a bit of a rest. Where better to relax than on one of the 30-plus beaches dotted around Phuket, Thailand's most popular island and beach destination? Being an island, and a pretty big one at that, Phuket's main appeal is understandably centred around beaches and the water. Whether you want to learn to scuba dive, enjoy the thrills of a water park or jetski, or just lie on the beach, topping up the tan and listening to the gentle lap of the waves, Phuket has it all. Not a great beach fan? No problem! Enjoy the thrill of an ATV safari, explore Phuket Old Town, visit Big Buddha the giant white buddha sitting atop Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata, visit an elephant sanctuary, go island hopping, take a yoga class or learn Thai massage, or better still, donate your time and volunteer at the Soi Dog Foundation animal rescue centre (minimum 2-day commitment) -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 10 An unplanned day as our arrival time will depend on which flight we booked, but we can take the time to enjoy a local orientation walk to get our bearings and plan out the next few days. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Vegan or veggie-friendly Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Orientation walk Transport: Flight from Chiang Mai to Phuket - Taxis to and from the airport -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 11 There's so much to do on Phuket. Of course, you're free to take this opportunity to relax on the beach and take in a beachside massage while listening to the waves lapping gently onto the shore. Or, we can rent scooters today (included) and explore the island? We can visit the Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Phuket Old Town and as many of the many awesome viewpoints and beaches that we can cram into one day. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Vegan or veggie-friendly Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Island Scooter tour Transport: Scooter rental and petrol -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Days 12 to 13 After yesterday's scooter tour I'm giving you all some free time to choose your own things to do. As always I'll be around to help and advise and book anything for you and I'll probably join in with some of them as I get bored just hanging around 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Accomm: Vegan or veggie-friendly Hotel Meals: Breakfast Activities: Chill time -------------------------------------------------------------- ⭐ Day 14 Sadly, it’s time to say farewell, but hopefully not goodbye to your group of newfound friends. I will already have created a contact list so that we can keep in touch so hopefully, some of us can meet up again. If anybody wants help or advice on returning to Bangkok by bus, train or plane or any other onward journey I'm happy to help. Just let me know during the trip what you're looking for. 💚 INCLUDED TODAY Meals: Breakfast Misc: Advice and help with ongoing journeys or plans Some of my best days out while in Phuket and my personal picks for our group experiences 🐶 Volunteer at Soi Dog Foundation animal rescue centre ⛱️ Chill out after the excitement of Bangkok and Chiang Mai on one of over 30 beaches 🛳️ Go Island hopping on a boat trip 🏞️ Visit the stunning Maya Bay, made famous by Leonardo DiCaprio's movie, "The Beach" 🙏 Climb to the 45-meter-high Big Buddha 🏞️ Explore Phang Nga Bay, the source of all those Instagram moments 🏝️ Take a Trip to Koh Phi Phi 🏰 Explore Old Phuket Town 🌅 Enjoy Sunset Drinks and Dinner facing west as the sun slowly drops below the horizon 🤵 Take a boat out to visit James Bond Island 🚣 Go Bamboo Rafting in Phang Nga 🎢 Get wet at one of the Phuket Waterparks 🤿 Learn to scuba dive or go snorkelling in the beautiful blue Andaman Sea 🧘🏼‍♂️ Join a Yoga Session or enjoy a relaxing Thai massage 🏎️ Go Go-Kart racing just because you can
