Welcome to this exciting crash-course in all that gorgeous Turkey has to offer! Passionate about travel and discovery, I have been exploring off the beaten path with road-trips in Turkey for years and would like to use my knowledge and experience to help fellow travelers from around the world discover the gems of Türkiye :D When, where and how? Duration: 8 Nights/9 Days starting 3rd of March Overnight Destinations: Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia, Antalya and Fethiye Minor stops: Bolu, Salt Lake, Egirdir Lake, Kaputas Beach, Iztuzu Beach Mode of Transportation: Comfortable private car(s) for the duration of the trip What's included in the price? - Transportation (car, fuel, tolls, parking, maintenance expenses etc.) - Accommodation (Shared rooms in: modern apartments in Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya; cave hotel in Cappadocia; villa with private pool in Fethiye) - All meals taken together (approx. 80% of the trip) - Activities (Entry tickets for all mentioned attractions, Bosphorous boat ride, Cappadocia ATV tour) What to bring along? - Clothing for weather ranging from about 7 to 22 degrees Celsius - Your road-trip playlist - Driver's license if you'd like to drive too - Energy and Appetite :D For the day-to-day breakdown you can refer to the itinerary but generally, this will be a medium to fast-paced trip covering significant distance over 9 days. The aim will be to see and enjoy the destinations as well as the journey, and we will for sure be a lively bunch. We will of course make sure that everyone is comfortable and make adjustments according to TripMates wishes and convenience if necessary. İstanbul

Tag 1-3

Our trip starts in the grand seat of ancient power, the City of Two Continents. Our 2 days in Istanbul will see us taking in the sights of this magnificent city from some of the best vantage points both on land and out at sea. After a private sunset Bosphorous cruise on the 3rd of March, we will experience the fascinating night skyline of the city from a rooftop terrace before retiring for the night. We will spend the next morning in the Historical Peninsula, visiting the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque and walk through the Taksim Square and Istiklal Street to the Galata Tower in the evening. The following day, we will drive across to enjoy the view from the Camlica Hilltop and admire the Grand Camlica Mosque, the biggest in Turkey.

Bolu

Tag 3

Then begins our drive from Istanbul to the capital Ankara. Around mid-way, we will take a lakeside lunch break in Bolu, Turkey's beautiful lake district. Definitely delicious and probably heavy Turkish food will necessitate a stroll around a picturesque lake, following which we will drive onwards to Ankara.

Ankara

Tag 3-4

Ankara will mainly serve as an overnight rest-stop but will provide a refreshing change of pace from the crowds and traffic of Istanbul. We will also use our time in Ankara to visit the Mausoleum of Ataturk to get some fascinating insight into the founder and founding of the modern Republic.

Lake Tuz

Tag 4

We will depart from Ankara later in the afternoon and head for the spectacular Salt Lake to watch the sunset there. Then the land of fairy chimneys, underground cities and cave dwellings awaits!

Cappadocia

Tag 4-6

We will arrive in Cappadocia the evening of the 6th of March and proceed to our cave hotel accommodation. The next day we will spend exploring the moonscape by car and take an ATV tour of some of the best spots. Anyone wishing to go on a memorable Hot Air Balloon ride (180-200 EUR, not included) may do so early on the morning of the 7th or 8th of March. Visiting the Goreme Open-Air museum or the Derinkuyu Underground City will also be part of the plan and we will decide based on the availability of time and the tripmates' wishes.

Konya

Tag 6

After Cappadocia, we will proceed to drive down to the Mediterranean Coast via Konya, Turkey's spiritual center and a stop at Lake Egirdir for lunch.

Antalya

Tag 6-7

In Antalya, we'll visit some points of interest and explore the Kaleiçi Oldtown. With plenty to choose from, we will democratically decide what to see and do and before departing for Fethiye the next day via a gorgeous coastal road, and a stop at the breathtaking Kaputaş Beach.

Fethiye

Tag 7-9

After checking in to our villa, we'll hit one of the most iconic beaches in the country to relax, enjoy watersports or take a thrilling Paragliding adventure (140-160 EUR, not included). With the imposing backdrop of the Babadağ Mountain (the world's highest - and probably most stunning - commercial paragliding take-off site) on one side and the mesmerizing water of the Blue Lagoon on the other, Ölüdeniz Bay is an absolute delight.

İztuzu Beach

Tag 9

As most of the beaches we will have visited up till then will be pebbly or rocky, we will take a trip to the gorgeous sandy Iztuzu/Turtle Beach, bounded by the sea on one side and the Dalyan River lagoon on the other. The beach is a protected site as home to the endangered loggerhead turtles. After spending the morning there, our trip will come to an end, and we will proceed to say goodbye at the Dalaman Airport, other nearby location(s) by request or in Istanbul if any TripMates would like to join me on the long drive back.
