Are you ready to explore and be immersed in one the most ancient, vibrant, capital city in the world and unveil its secrets? 🏛 If you're passionate about history, culture, and a foodie, this trip is 100% for you! 🌞 During our three days and a half together (March 28-31, 2024), we will go back and forth to Antiquity, Renaissance, and the Modern era, while discovering the gorgeous heart of the city. From the Colosseo –the symbol of the Western culture and the Fori Imperiali, to the Vaticano and the Castel Sant’Angelo, without forgetting the Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza di Spagna, or the emblematic, old-working class district of Trastevere, we will cover more than two millennia of intense history. As I want you to have an unforgettable experience and be able to enjoy Rome to the fullest, I don’t want to overload our schedule. I will plan carefully all the stops I think are worth to make and give you options too, but we can also decide as a group what to do, eat, and where to go, depending on how we feel. And you can of course have some time to yourself as well 😊. I just want everyone to feel comfortable and not pressured. As I always say, the best way to capture the essence of Rome is to be willing to get lost, go with the flow, meet the locals, and "do as the Romans do". Trust me, there is nothing best than wandering around the cobblestone streets off the beaten path, admiring the colorful palazzi (buildings), entering the gorgeous churches, and listening to the local talk in Italian (or Romano to be precise) 😍. Except maybe, eating! 😋 Let’s talk about food and channel our inner Elizabeth Gilbert. Marveling at the glorious sites is amazing, but not on an empty stomach. Prepare to indulge in flavorful, typical Roman dishes such as the pasta cacio e pepe, the real carbonara, supplì, pizza, carciofi alla giudìa, fine wine, marittozzi, homemade gelato, coffee, etc. Rome is made for foodies 🍝🍕🧆🍦🍷. One thing about that though: gluten and lactose-free products exist but are hard to find so if you’re intolerant or allergic, please consider it probably won’t be the best option for you. If we are not too tired after walking for hours, we can go out to a bar at night or have aperitivo at the place we'll be staying at all together 🍹🍻🧀. What’s included: - 3 nights in a beautiful central apartment or a hotel (see details below) so everything will be reachable by foot. Extras: - Cooking class 👩🏻🍳👨🏻🍳 to learn how to make homemade pasta and/or pizza. About 75-85€ per person for a 2.5/3.5-hour class + eating. If you’re interested, I’ll add it to the final price of the trip. - Tickets to any museums, sites, or activities if you want to see or do something, outside of the group. Feel free to let me know as it’s important to book the tickets in advance 😊. - Transportation from/to the airport. There are a few options here depending on your preferences. You can take a cab for approx. 50€, the Leonardo Express (train) for 14€ to Termini station which I recommend, or one of the shuttle buses (6€ as of now). Prices are only for a one-way ride. - All the food. - Travel insurance (except if you already have one that covers the trip). Expectations about the trip: - I am looking to have fun, to eat good food, and to take the time to enjoy everything the city has to offer. Rome is my favorite place in the world 🤍, so I am always happy to go back home and see peoples’ eyes shining when looking at her 🥹. - I am looking for 4/5 open-minded, friendly, non-smoking people to join me on this trip. If you’re good at communicating, flexible and independent, respectful, passionate as me about history, culture, and food, willing to live an authentic and slow experience, not too overwhelmed by big crowds and like to walk, and of course, if you love to meet new people (travelers and the locals), I can’t wait to see you next March! 🤗
About me! I am Amandine from Provence, about to turn 33 in a few days, and I'll be your TripLeader (I'll do all the arranging and booking for you😊). It will be the first time for JMT but I’ve been planning trips for five years now, either for my solo trips or for the ones I go to with my friends. I always make sure we have the best time together and our needs are fully respected. I speak French, English (I used to be an English teacher), Italian, Spanish and want to learn Portuguese and Greek after going back to study Arabic. My friends say about me I am a social butterfly as I can connect quickly and easily with strangers but that I need my own alone time (true!). They love that I am very passionate and loyal, trustful, honest, and a professional storyteller. Besides being an anthropologist, travel designer (launching my own business soon!), food stylist/photographer, I love reading books as much as possible and cooking homemade, Mediterranean food. I listen to Latin music and dance on reggaetón every day (makes me in a good mood), and the rest you can discover in my bio 😉. ~ Don't hesitate to reach out if you feel like it or if you have any questions, send me a message 📩. Hope to see you soon to experience la dolce vita together 🤍.
Three options for the accommodation: - For the first one, I will be aiming to get us an apartment whose location will be very central or close to a metro station. We will have to share rooms or maybe beds (double ones) as it’s difficult to find enough space/single beds for everyone. - Second one could be a very nice hotel with shared double beds (2 ppl per room) for the same price as the apartment, located via del Corso. - Last and cheapest one. If I cannot find anything within a reasonable price range for Rome (which means NOT below 550-600€ per person for three nights), or within your budget, I’ll prioritize going to another hotel with less quality and comfort, shared rooms with single beds, but still very central at Via dell'Orso. ~ 📝 IMPORTANT: please note that since the pandemic, especially since late 2022, prices in Rome and in Italy have gotten insanely high and still do. I go to the capital city every year at least 2 to 3 times a year and they are not joking now. But I’d rather have us spend more on the accommodation (or still be in the city center if hotel is the option) but be able to do everything by foot than wasting time and money in transportation (traffic is crazy in Rome and taxi fares can get expensive really quickly). ~ I'll show you the pictures as soon as I am sure of the accommodation chosen 😉
