Hiking in Oia and in Ancient Thera

Explore the hidden gems of the island

We are going to see the island from a non-commercial and touristic point of view. Of course, we will see the great sunset in Oia and the beautiful Red Beach, but we will also visit some of the hidden gems of Santorini such as its hiking trails that will lead us to Ancient Thera, to an old cave and to Prophet Elias Monastery. Furthermore, we could do another hiking trail that leads to Santorinis famous volcano. Also, we will go wine tasting, wines made from grapes grown in volcanic soils can have varied and complex flavor profiles and Santorini offers just that.

My friend Fenia and I, are explorers and love to meet new people and create with them unique experiences. We are in the tourism sector for quite some time, and we would like to share our knowledge and passion about exploring the Greek islands and their hidden treasures. From beautiful beaches, to hiking trails and restaurants that fully represent the Greek cuisine and our traditions.

Depending on your needs, we could either stay in apartments, hotels or a studio. Right now there is availability of a studio with a mountain view and a swimming pool for all the clients of the hotel to use, deluxe double rooms, triples room and suites (capacity of 6 people) in the area of Kamari/ Perissa which is a perfect location to stay (it has a beach nearby, nightlife, and It's near almost everything by bus or taxi/15 minutes by bus to Thera centre). Kamari

Tag 1

Stay in Kamari area, Santorini, which is a perfect location. It's within meters from the beach near the airport and the city centre. It also has some great restaurant choices (Fistikies), bakery nearby (Erotokritos) and beach bars.

Santorini

Tag 1

Hiking Trail from Kamari to Ancient Thera. On our way we meet an old chapel and cave. Once we arrive there we can sit and enjoy the views and later get tickets and visit the archaeological site there.

Oia

Tag 1

Get the bus to Oia, for a shopping spree in the local shops in its traditional alleyways and experience the famous sunset. Afterwards, we could sit there for dinner or get cocktails and enjoy the view.

Red Beach Akrotiri

Tag 1-2

Visit Red Beach and Perivolos beach and swim. We could opt for a little boat trip to see more beaches. Also, we will visit Akrotiri prehistroric city and its village with the Venetian old preserved castle as it is near the Red Beach.

Thera

Tag 2

Hiking trail from Fira to Oia, or from Oia to Fira depending on our mood as Fira to Oia is uphill so if the weather is too hot we could opt to do Oia -Fira which is much easier. Also, we will pass the volcano.

Artemis Karamolegos

Tag 2

We could go there for wine tasting and potential cooking lesson, either in the afternoon or early in the day. First they offer a tour in their famous vineyards, and then we sit and enjoy 3–6 wines with their pairings. If you are interested, we could do there a cooking lesson too.

Thera

Tag 2-3

We will visit the Museum of Thera, walk around the centre, shop, do a ride in the funicular, sit for lunch or coffee enjoying the magnificent view and also on our way back visit the traditional village Megalochori.
