We will be sailing from Finnmark to Lofoten which is without any doubt a unique experience! Both at sea and on land, you will be accompanied by dramatic views, as mountains rise up straight out of the ocean. This trip will be the perfect combination of ocean sailing and exploring some pristine areas in northern Norway. The start location of this trip is Alta, Finnmark. From here we will embark on a 5 days sailing crossing to Moskenes, Lofoten. During the trip we will pass by the famous Lyngen Alps, Senja islands and Tromso. The main focus of this trip will be sailing, but there will definitely be opportunities to explore the land as well. The hours on board are filled with sailing, cooking, relaxing and getting to know one another better. This trip will also involve night voyages to cover the necessary distance, which is an important part of the ocean sailing experience. While sailing, we will involve participants in learning the basic techniques. The route you will sail is going through some very remote and unknown fjords and islands. Made to be weatherproof en flexible. In total, we will cover about 300 nautical miles, which will be split in three legs of about 100 nm each. Every leg will take about 14-17 hours of consecutive sailing, which can be done during the day or night. This means that the schedule alternates between a full day of sailing and a full day of exploring. During the sailing days we will use a watch schedule in which a four-hour rhythm will be used. This means that you will help with sailing, navigating, cooking and more for four hours, followed by four hours of rest and sleep. On the exploring days there will be plenty of time for hiking, swimming, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding and more. Your stay & transportation: You will stay aboard our sailing vessel the Moondance, a custom-built 53ft aluminium Koopmans, which will also be our form of transportation. Moondance can sleep up to 9 people (divided over 2 cabins) and has a big central lounge. There is sufficient heating, a hot shower, a toilet, storage space and more, so it is built for comfort. In the day-to-day description, you can find more information and photos about the Moondance, so you will have a good impression of what is awaiting you. Who are we? My name is Sanne (26) and together with Luuk (28) & Olivier (28) we form the Moondance team. The Moondance is owned by us, and therefor we know all her ins and outs. We will be your crew on board and will be responsible for sailing you around. Together we have over 30.000 nautical miles of sailing experience and have safely managed any thinkable situation at sea. You do not need any sailing experience to join this trip, and we are happy to teach you about sailing if you want. Over the years we've had many amazing people on board, and we would love to see you next! What's included? - Moondance plus all facilities for 7 days (6 nights) - Experienced skipper and crew - All meals during the trip on board (breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks) What's not included? - Flight tickets - Expenses on shore - Personal travel insurance
