San Marco
Tag 1
Venice's most touristic, but most iconic, neighborhood, with such sights as: - Piazza de San Marco - St. Mark's Basilica - Doge's Palace - The oldest cafe in the world!!! We will do a good deal of sightseeing here -- in winter, we will be able to avoid the crowds!
2
Cannaregio
Tag 1
A quiet, residential neighborhood, featuring - the historic Jewish ghetto - many delicious bakeries and small wine bars! - Ca'd'Oro - Beautiful little streets and peaceful canals This lovely little neighborhood will be more for hanging out and getting drinks. We may even live here!
3
San Polo
Tag 1
- Rialto Bridge - Rialto Market - Basilica dei Frari This will be a neighborhood that we will do a lot of sightseeing in! You may also wish to come here to go to the market and get your groceries. :)

Dorsoduro
Tag 1-29
My favorite neighborhood!!! I will take you to my favorite little bars, my TWO favorite gelato places, and my absolute favorite museum: the Galleria dell'Accademia. Also featuring my absolute favorite bridge in Venice. This is the other neighborhood that we may be staying in!
5
Castello
Tag 29
Enormous Castello has parks, incredible architecture, a wide shopping avenue, and tons of sandwich shops and eateries. We will often come here to get fresh produce from the grocery boat!! My favorite wine bar is also located in this area.
6
Santa Croce
Tag 29
Don't be too shocked by the cars! ;) This part of the city is near the bridge to the mainland, and the only part of the city where cars are allowed. It is a bit gritty, like the train station neighborhoods of many cities, but there are still magnificent museums and churches to see!
7
Murano
Tag 29
Historic Murano, an island near Venice, was the center of glassmaking in Europe for many years. Today, it is known for its colorful houses, much like its neighbor, Burano! There is also a wonderful Byzantine church here.
8
Burano
Tag 29
Burano is another island near Venice that historically made lace. There is a lace museum here, as well as more colorful houses! Burano is also known for a particular kind of traditional cookie, the bussola. Legend has it that fishermen's wives would bake this hard cookie in order for their husbands to take with them when they went to sea.
9
Torcello
Tag 29
Mysterious Torcello is another island further away from Venice. Although almost deserted today, it was actually one of the first parts of the island to ever be settled!! It is worth the trip for the eerie feeling this ghost town gives off -- not to mention an incredible cathedral built in the 600s (with Byzantine mosaics from the 11th and 12th centuries!).
