Would you never stop eating pizza?๐ Are you curious about the most famous comfort food in the world? Well, for sure it was born in Naples, probably in the 16th Century, but it evolved! Do you know how many kinds of pizzas were born over the centuries, not only in Naples but also around the Campania Region? ๐ฅ If you're not a local, it can be complicated to get to know and appreciate the pizza evolution. But don't worry, this must be the right trip for you. You'll gonna taste them all. And I'll help you to deeply understand why this local pride is something taken very seriously.๐ง We'll be based in the birthplace of pizza, Napoli, the capital city of the Campania Region. ๐ค I'll let you lose yourself completely in the Neapolitan Culture. If you want to take a break from eating and enjoy Campania's artistic heritage, you'll also have a "Campania Arte Card" included to take every means of public transport ๐ and to access freely 2 different historical sites of your choice in the Region and save up to 50% off your next visits.๐ But when lunch times comes, we need to be ready. You'll make and taste your first authentic Neapolitan Pizza. Cocรฒ, a pizza maker for 30 years, will reveal every secret and show you carefully every stage of pizza making.๐จโ๐ณ From the traditional Neapolitan pizza, we'll jump into the contemporary version of it, in the city of Caserta. A decade ago, pizza makers changed the dough, and the topping was turned into gourmet food to celebrate our local delicacies. We'll taste it at the pizzeria considered the best in Italy, even better than Napoli's ones. ๐ฏ On our last day, we'll go around another hotspot of the Campania Region: Sorrento Coast. Right there, we'll taste the "pizza a metro" right where it was invented in 1930. Designed to serve as many people as possible at the same time at the same table, it's completely different from the Neapolitan version and I can't explain, you must try it!๐คฉ

Naples
Tag 1-4
We'll meet at the Napoli Centrale Station, I'll help you to get and activate your "Campania ArteCard" to use public transport in Naples and the Campania Region for free.๐ You'll also have 2 free entrances to historical sites of the Campania Region (I'll give you a long list to choose from, Napoli's sites included of course! Pompeii as well!) and 50% discount from the third site on. ๐ผ๏ธ ๐บ ๐จ After that, I'll take you to check in at your b&b (the accommodation won't change during the trip) and leave your luggage. Then, I'll lead you through a walking tour of Naples. We'll pass by the original Greek Roman streets full of artisan shops and speciality shops. I'll talk about food's history and Neapolitan culture, and I'll take you to visit what I call "Napoli's hidden magic places". ๐ฅฐ For lunch, I'll give you more information about the traditional Neapolitan pizza, its rules, its history and its importance in local people's life. ๐ But your encounter with the first pizza of the trip will be an interactive one! That's because you'll meet a pizza maker born and raised in a pizzeria. He'll give you a pizza lesson, share all his secrets and win you over with his enthusiasm and passion for his job. ๐จโ๐ณ Your hard work will be rewarded with your own pizza tasting.

Caserta

On our second day, we'll reach the city of Caserta by train. I strongly suggest using your first free entrance to Campania's historical sites to visit the "Reggia di Caserta", the summer royal residence of the Bourbon dynasty.๐ Built between the 18th and 19th centuries (it took 93 years of hard work!), it was modelled on the Versailles royal palace. Strolling around overdecorated private rooms and enchanting gardens, you'll feel like time has stopped there. But, did I forget something? Pizza, of course! ๐ We'll taste the contemporary version of the Neapolitan pizza at the pizzeria that won the title of the "Best Italian Pizzeria of 2022". Contemporary pizza makers totally broke the rules of traditional pizza making: they changed the dough, the rising time, the cooking time, and they chose to pay more attention to the topping. A contemporary pizza is always dressed with local products to glorify what our beloved land of "Campania Felix" gives us. ๐ฅฆ ๐

On our last day, we'll reach Sorrento by train. Sorrento is an unmissable spot in the Campania Region, full of breathtaking views of the Gulf of Naples. We'll take a look at the historical centre that kept the original Greek and Roman streets. Theyโre full of artisan shops and limoncello shops. ๐ Indeed, Sorrento is famous for lemon groves and fruit trees, olive trees and vineyards. But also for the wood carving and the handmade sandals!๐ชก ๐ก Around the Sorrento Peninsula, "Pizza a Metro" was born in the 30s. To be precise, in the picturesque town of Vico Equense, our last stop (reachable by train).

Vico Equense

Vico Equense is a pretty town in the heart of the Lattari Mountains, a mountain range that can be considered the backbone of the Sorrento Peninsula. The name derives from "latte" (milk) because It's the most famous spot in Italy for dairy production, mozzarella and all sort of cheese! ๐ง Exactly where it was invented by Luigi Dell' Amura, we'll taste "pizza a metro", the Sorrento Peninsula version of the Neapolitan Pizza. โPizza a metroโ is literally a pizza that can be up to 2 meters long. ๐คฉ Designed to serve as many people as possible at the same time at the same table, it suddenly became extra popular. Because of the ingredients from Lattari Mountains, Itโs now a speciality that you canโt help but try! ๐On the 4th day, you'll check out, and I'll be at your disposal for every info you need to reach the airport or to visit something else. Itโs time to say โarrivederciโ but I hope It wonโt be a goodbye! ๐
