Food and culture trip with a local

Taste and learn about tequila and mezcal, experience a true TACOS tour, prepare "tamales. All this while you get to know the city with a local and make new friends!! We will visit Teotihuacan areological site, Chapultepec, Coyoacán, we will hear traditional music, and visit the museum of Frida Kahlo, among other interesting places. Experience true Mexican food which is considered by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

About me: I am Mexican and Swiss and have lived almost my whole life in Mexico City, I studied Gastronomy and Food Sciences here and I love to experience new places through food! Culture and heritage are part of a vacation here, but most importantly creating a nice environment and making new friends are indispensable aspects of my trips! I speak Spanish, English, German and French, the trip can be organised in any of these languages, it will be determined based on the participants preferences or the majority's choice!

Accommodation: The Hotel or Apartment where you'll be staying depend on the number of people that come to the trip, so we will be discussing it further on. However, you can be certain that your accommodation will be clean, comfortable and you'll have internet connection. It will be located in a good, centric region and will have a variety of stores and restaurants nearby. Keep me posted in the Q&A section in case you have questions about the trip!

Mexico City International Airport

Tag 1-2

You will be picked up from the airport if needed and brought to the hotel. We will introduce ourselves and then you’ll have free time to rest or explore on your own. If you'd like to eat together and get to know the surroundings, you can tell me! I'll be happy to show you around.

Bosque de Chapultepec

Tag 2-3

Visit BOSQUE DE CHAPULTEPEC, we will get to know each other be around nature and you'll have the opportunity to take a paddle boat ride or to have a little free time. You can also choose if you want to visit the CHAPULTEPEC CASTLE, known for its fantastic view of part of the city as well as a beautiful architecture. There you can learn a little about Mexican history. Then, the highlight of the day: enjoy a true Mexican TACOS TOUR with information about the culture of tacos and more than 5 different tacos to try!!!

Teotihuacán

Tag 3-4

We will be transported to the Archeological site of TEOTIHUACAN; there you'll have a guided tour and appreciate and maybe even climb the SUN PYRAMID which was built around 1-150 b.C. and is 63.4 m high. Then we will eat at a NATURAL CAVE nearby, where you'll be able to try traditional food and drinks in a nice environment.

Coyoacán

Tag 4-5

Have a hands- on experience learning to prepare TAMALES with a Mexican expert! She will show us how to make them and then we will eat tamales and atole together. Afterwards we'll visit the center of Coyoacán and you can choose to have free time there or to visit the museum of famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Then we will have a TEQUILA and MEZCAL tasting!!

Tag 5-6

We will visit the MUEUM OF CHOCOLATE and discover the origins of cacao a native product. Then we will take the TOUR BUS to the center of Mexico City, eat together and enjoy our time there. You´ll be brought back to the hotel around 5pm, and from there we can help you arrange a taxi to the airport if you have another destination to go to.
