Over the course of an exciting weekend, experience the city from the perspective of vibrant contemporary visual art and traditional food in historic restaurants, with a special atmosphere that hints at the stories of the place. In the particular composition of the itinerary, I have paid attention to the appealing contrast between culinary establishments which have been there ever since and contemporary impulses in the paintings, sculptures, photographs and film/video art that we will see. A specially curated program takes you to the highlights, e.g. MAAT (museum of art, architecture & technology) and Kunsthalle, of the local creative scene and shows you insights into renowned established institutions (e.g. Tile Museum), impressive art collections (e.g. Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), and dynamic young galleries such as 3+1 and UMA LULIK. In between, you'll savor select historic restaurants and end relaxed evenings in old-world bars. The grand finale takes place at the Gulbenkian. A multifaceted cultural foundation whose sprawling garden in the middle of the city invites you to experience nature and unwind. I'm Nadja, your host and know the city and its art scene well, as I run my own guesthouse and artist residence in the south of the country. Getting an insight into the art scene on-site, outstanding hospitality, bringing people together, and finding special places with history are my passion. Having grown up in a family hotel in Salzburg, Austria, personal hosting and individual travel experiences have been part of my entire life. I studied the history of art and cultural management in Berlin, London, and Vienna. After gaining international art (and) travel knowledge, I founded Where About Now in Berlin in 2017. Included in the price: - Accommodation (You will stay in a central and tasteful hotel in a single room with optional breakfast) - Entry to the museums - Transport between the scheduled visits Food and drinks in the selected restaurants as well as any consumption outside the schedule must be paid for by the participant. No prior knowledge is necessary, and all with a curiosity for art are welcome.
