Do you imagine yourself strolling through Paris cobblestone streets holding a baguette? If yes, fall is the best time to visit Paris. There are less crowds, the weather is still warm enough to stroll around, and autumn foliage adds an extra charm to the streets and lush gardens. The idea behind this trip is to avoid tourist traps and long waiting lines that can sometimes take even half a day! Instead, we will try to experience the city as locals and create the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation! For this reason, we will be staying in a beautifully decorated and spacious apartment in the central and trendy The Marais district, so we can have easy access to all the iconic landmarks. During our trip we will live unforgettable experiences like a Seine river cruise, pic-nic by the Seine with cheese, wine and croissants, a perfume workshop where we will get to create our own personal perfume and take it with us, visit thrift markets, bookstores, museums and of course extra attention will be given to foodie destinations and cafés! We will have the chance to see up close the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur and some of the most historic neighborhoods like Le Marais, Quartier Latin and Monmarte.

Le Marais

Tag 1-2
On Friday, our first day, we will all meet at our beautiful appartment in the heart of The Marais district. We will stroll around to explore the neighborhood and enjoy coffee, foods and drinks. "Marché des Enfants Rouges" is the oldest Market in Paris and a perfect place to have a meal or a drink since it is one of the few markets that have tables, some communal. There we can get a wide array of food; ranging from Mediterranean to North African to East Asian. In the 17th and 18th centuries The Marais district became home to France’s nobility, so the area is full of stunning mansions. The Marais has traditionally been the Jewish quarter in Paris. Today the Marais district is full of chic upscale shops, trendy restaurants, and bars and is a mixture of many communities – Jewish, Asian and LBGTQ. The numerous designers of the Marais are known for their avant-garde collections.

Eiffel Tower

Tag 2-3
Saturday, our second day, will find us on the foot of the Eiffel Tower. We will board a cruise boat or "Bateaux Mouches" as they are called in French. We will set sail along the Seine River and enjoy breathtaking views of iconic Paris landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame de Paris, the Orsay Museum, the Petit and Grand Palace, the Concorde Square, Alexandre III bridge, and much more. At the end of the cruise we will cross a small bridge and find ourselves in Trocadero where we will have the chance to admire a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower and Paris cityscape and take a lot of pictures. Our next stop is Rue Cler, a cheerful market street that’s widely recognized by foodies and gourmets. Along this pedestrian route, we can find divine pastry shops, greengrocers, cheese vendors, luxury French teahouses, chocolate and gelato shops, and delis selling French takeaway delicacies. There are also plenty of charming cafés and restaurants, as well as a thrift market filled with antiques and hidden treasures that we will have time to explore. Our next stop is the Musée de l'Orangerie - an art gallery of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings located in the west corner of the Tuileries Gardens. It is most famous for the eight Water Lilies murals by Claude Monet, but the museum also includes works by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Rousseau, Alfred Sisley, Chaim Soutine, and Maurice Utrillo, among others.

Luxembourg Gardens

Tag 3-4
On Sunday will start our day at the beautiful Luxembourg gardens to enjoy the autumn colors. Towering chestnut trees, a tranquil pool where children (and teens and adults) float toy sailboats, and many benches for sitting among lush flowers and beautiful statues make Luxembourg Garden, Paris's most popular park. There is also an open-air café for drinks or lunch. We will then walk to Shakespeare and Company, a bookshop specializing in English-language literature that, in recent years, had cameo appearances in Richard Linklater's Before Sunset and Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. Our next stop is Notre Dame, an unmissable stop when visiting Paris. Its history is, dating all the way back to the 12th century. We will see what remains of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral after the 2019 fire, and marvel at the iconic features of the well-known facade, including the towers and legendary gargoyles. We will then head to the prestigious Place de Vosges in the heart of the Marais district, to visit the house of Victor Hugo, the famous French writer that immortalised the beauty of Notre Dame in his famous novel "The hunchback of Notre Dame". The writer lived on the second floor of the mansion from 1832 to 1848 and wrote some of his major works there, including a large part of 'Les Misérables'. We will end our day in Place des Vosges, a perfect spot to sit in the park, admire the buildings and get something to eat or drink.

Montmartre

Tag 4-5
Montmartre is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Paris and it is easy to see why. Cobbled streets, historic buildings, Place du Tertre where the artists paint, the Sacré-Coeur basilica and panoramic views of the city. We will start our visit at the Sacré-Coeur basilica to admire panoramic views of Paris. We will then visit the famous Place du Tertre where you can have your portrait painted by a local artist. As we walk through the streets we will meet charming cafés like The Café des Deux Moulins that became famous from the film "Amélie" or Le Consulat Café, a historic café in the center of Monmarte associated with Van Gogh, Picasso et Monet, among other artists. Next stop, the Fragonard Perfume Museum! We will immerse ourselves in a world of scents with this experience at the Fragonard Perfume Museum. The museum's collection contains three thousand years of perfume history. During the perfume-making workshop, we will create and customize our own scent following the advice of our teacher. At the end we will create our own Eau de Toilette fragrance that we can take with us!
