Was ist das Besondere?
special Visual art trip with northern artist :))
Are you a creative soul and looking for visual pleasure every time you visit a new place? Amsterdam has plenty to offer! Van Gogh is a must-see! The trip's goal is to visit more of the independent and "secret" art galleries to explore the local art scene and, for sure, to see the most famous yellow color painter - Vincent! Since it's going to be Autumn, be aware the wind here can be very rough, so be prepared with good clothing and also protection from the rain. Also, we will be walking around a lot, since it's the best way to find the most interesting things around the city. For sure, if the weather is not going to be pleasant, we can use public transportation. A 24-hour ticket costs around 9 e per person, and a single ticket around 3.40e. The trip is not only about visiting the cultural scene but also having a nice time with each other, enjoying drinks, food, and discussions about the arts :)

About me! I am a Lithuanian sculptor based in Finland. I love the visual art scene as much as I love traveling. Those two passions come together very nicely:) I am an open-minded, spontaneous person, always looking for new adventures. I am a sporty one, so be aware of a lot of physical activity :) My interest is to find and explore unique places, something that is not in the "touristic book". And for sure, always open to new people who share the same passion!

Details about the accommodation: We will be staying in the Hostel, east south Amsterdam area called De Pijp. we will have a quadruple room with 4 single beds own toilet and shower. Free Wi-Fi and breakfast. The hostel is located 15min walk from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. The Albert Cuypstraat tram stop is a 7-minute walk and offers direct access to Amsterdam Central Station with trams 16 and 24. Do you have a question? Let me know in the Q&A section!

Amsterdam

Tag 1-2
For the first day, we will start by getting to know each other with a cup of coffee or tea and Dutch sweets, sugar will pump us up for a day :) and for sure settle down in the accommodation. Our check in is after 3pm. Afterwards, we will start exploring the local area's small galleries, taking it easy and enjoying ourselves, stopping for a drink or a snack. The plan is to walk around the eastern, southern areas and western ones, since most of the independent galleries are located, and in my opinion, are the nicest areas of Amsterdam. Just be aware that most of the galleries here are free, but some can have a small entrance fee.
2

Van Gogh Museum

Tag 2-3
Second day we will start with the famous Vincent Museum. The suggestion would be to start before noon, and hit the museum around 10 am. And after that, visit the contemporary art museum which is next door. So, after the museums, we will have plenty of time to have lunch, explore the eastern side of Amsterdam (the famous red light district) and, for sure, stop for the Friday drinks in the center of Amsterdam. Also, the suggestion for a second day is doing everything by foot. For sure, if it's tiring or rainy, we can use public transportation.
3

STRAAT Museum

Tag 3-4
On the third day, we will go to the north side of Amsterdam to visit the street art and graffiti museum STRAAT. We will take a tram and the ferry to the other side. The tram STRAAT resides in a former warehouse on the NDSM wharf, both a national monument and the biggest outdoor playground for street art and graffiti in Amsterdam. It has a huge collection of artists. The museum works till 6 pm. So there is no need to be there early, we can be flexible. When we are finished with the street art, we can stay on the north side and walk around, have lunch. Also, in the same area where there is a tower with a restaurant and lookout area, it is possible to visit the place. The lookout costs around 17e per person, just need to reserve it in advance. Can be discussed before the trip :)

Amsterdam

Tag 4
Last day, first, we will need to check out before 11am. Unfortunately- early, but where is a possibility to leave our stuff in the paid lockers. So Sunday's plan is to visit the art market. If the weather is not going to be very cold, the market is on. It's a unique opportunity to meet the local artists and to see and buy the various artworks. Entry is free of charge. However, if the market is closed and we will have bad weather, since its October, you never know what we can get, we will continue with more art galleries, shopping and exploring. We will also visit the cheese museum shop. The shop offers to taste a lot of different cheeses then, it's up to you if you want to buy something or not. I love cheese in the Netherlands ,so it is definitely a place worth trying :)
