Visit Rome with me and my friend in March 2024! This weekend, we're embarking on a flexible and enjoyable exploration of Rome, with the itinerary open for collaborative planning among all participants. The trip promises a laid-back atmosphere as my friend and I aim to create a memorable experience and connect with fellow travelers. The agenda is entirely customizable, allowing us to collectively decide on the activities and attractions we want to experience together. It's an opportunity to forge new friendships, share travel stories, and make the most of our time in this fascinating city. Join us for a weekend of spontaneity, camaraderie, and the joy of discovering Rome together!

About Me: I am a student in Berlin, come from Indonesia and love travelling. I try my best to travel when i have the time and resources. Next year in March i would like to visit Rome with a friend of mine. We are both living in Germany and are good friends. This trip should be a fun short trip to explore Rome and network with new people who also loves to travel and explore the world. We would be very happy to welcome you in our trip and to get to know you.

We are probably going to go for an airbnb/ apartment/ villa for the stay since it would be the best and cheaper for a group. Each one of us should have a bed (not a sofa or couch) and it would be possible to share a bed (for example me and my friend). My goal is to have at least 5 people including me and my friend for trip. Any questions about the trip? You can let me know in the Q&A section!

Rom

Tag 1-2
Spring is my favorite time of the year. The days are getting warmer and longer, the flowers are blooming, and i would say Rome isn’t inundated by tourists like in summer. Rome has two international airports, Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA). From there you can then take either a train or bus into central Rome. Make sure to book your bus or train online beforehand, especially if you’re visiting in busy season, as they can get full pretty quickly and you then have to wait 20-30 minutes for the next one. We will all meet at a place that we decided together (via messages). I’m a big fan of walking as a mode of transport when I travel, as it allows you to see the side streets and true vibe of a city, way more than you would just driving from one attraction to the next, plus you also get a bit of exercise in. Another option would be to use e-scooters. We are going to have a tour guide (since me and my friend are not from Rome) to show us the city or we could also book a city tour. This would be our stops: - Piazza di Spagna & Trinità dei Monti - Villa Borghese - Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona - The Pantheon - The Trevi Fountain - Campo de’ Fiori - Street Food Tour - Bars and Clubs ... and many more

On day 2 there isn’t much walking involved in the Rome itinerary. That’s because you will be visiting the Vatican, and if you choose to go inside to see the museums and Sistine Chapel, that will easily take up half a day, if not more. - Trastevere We started the second day of our Rome weekend in Trastevere, a beautiful neighbourhood where a lot of the roads are pedestrian, which makes it even more enjoyable to walk around. The cobbled streets of Trastevere are also lined with bars and restaurants, so you can enjoy a croissant and coffee before properly setting off on your Rome weekend adventures. - Vatican museums and sistine chapel - Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill We wandered the streets of Trastevere for a bit, and then walked our way up the Tiber river to Castel Sant’Angelo and Vatican City. - Castel Sant’Angelo One of the unique beauties of this attraction is Ponte Sant’Angelo, the bridge that connects the two sides of the river just in front of it. The bridge is pedestrian, and walking towards this impressive building with all the angel statues lined on both sides is a truly mystifying experience. After we leave the Vatican we will probably be a bit tired, but there’s one last sight we can’t miss. Simply walk down to the river and head to Ponte Umberto I. This is one of the most famous bridges and sunset spots in Rome. From here we can watch the sun go down behind the huge dome of San Pietro, and the unique reflection in the river as the lights turn on. It’s the perfect ending to our second day in Rome.

In the country of good food, it just makes sense that its capital has some of the most amazing food choices. Especially if you’re planning on exploring the Eternal City on foot, you will see just how many bars, restaurants, bakeries and lovely cafes there are in Rome. On the last day in Rome we could go and be a foodie and enjoy Rome with our tastebuds. Here are some recommendations i found: - Cacio e Pepe (These type of restaurants serve big portions for affordable prices.) - Roscioli is actually a “Salumeria” a shop that sells all sorts of cheese and cured meat, to which they’ve added a kitchen and dining area and serve all sorts of traditional Roman dishes. - Osteria da Fortunata (watch a local Roman lady make fresh pasta, and then eat that same pasta with typical Roman recipes like Carbonara) - Mercato Centrale Roma (Located inside Termini train station, this street food style market is perfect for on the go meals, without compromising on quality.) We could also join a street food tour or cooking class. These allow us to learn more about the local cuisine, while exploring the city and meeting new people along the way. Depart and saying goodbyes, untill we meet again in our next trip.
