Short and Sweet Escape to Sardinia

Hello everyone! I am planning a quite short but jam-packed trip to Cagliari, the historic capital city of the island of Sardinia 🇮🇹 My name is Katie. I am 22 years old and have been living in Italy for around 3 years. I speak Italian fluently and have been to Sardinia many times, but never to Cagliari. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity! I am quite easy going, so all plans can be discussed and modified ☺️ Histroy 📜 - Cagliari was the capital of the Kingdom of Sardinia from 1324 to 1848, when Turin became the formal capital of the kingdom (which in 1861 became the Kingdom of Italy). Today the city is a regional cultural, educational, political and artistic centre, known for its diverse Art Nouveau architecture and several monuments. Food 🥟 - Sardinia is known for its traditional cuisine, and we will be sure to have a taste! Some of the most typical food is ‘fregula cun cocciula’, which is basically a seafood couscous. Their ‘culurgiones’ are also particularly well-known, which is a very typical type of raviolo in Sardinia, as well as many other tasty foods which I will explain to you on your trip! Activities 🎯 - Since we will not be there for so long, we have to be sure to make most of the time that we have. I have organised a guided trip around the hidden caves underneath for our first full day (5th September) and then in order to see the rest of the city we can spend the day strolling the small streets between markets, restaurants and cafés, as well as see museums with a city pass. I imagine our day would look a little like this - ⚫️ Start at the San Benedetto Market ⚫️ Discover the Castello district ⚫️ Then go to the Saint Remy Bastion and enjoy the view over Cagliari ⚫️ Lunch break ⚫️ Go to the Cathedral di Santa Maria then head to the Palazzo di Citta ⚫️ Visit the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari. Cagliari also has a small but active nightlife, so if we want we can spend the evening drinking and dancing, but of course is not obligatory if you don’t want to. For the second day (6th September), I think it would be nice to relax for a while and spend the day more focused around the beautiful Sardinian nature. There are many hikes close to the beach as well as, of course, the beach itself where we can relax for a while and go swimming. Early September in Italy is beautiful because the crowds of tourists will have stared to die down, but it will still be very warm, so we can enjoy the sun. Transport 🚌 - Cagliari is well connected by public transport as well as being a smallish city, making it easy to explore by foot. Money 💸 - Included in the price will be your accommodation in a rented apartment as well as the cost of a guided tour in the caves of Cagliari and a buffer of 5% to cover any hidden costs that I am not aware of. I will also be adding 50€ as a commission fee. Any questions about the price are encouraged! When everything is organised we can decide if you guys would like to pay a certain amount dedicated to food (supermarkets, restaurants, coffees, etc) or if we prefer to each pay alone.
