Hi! I am Larry, and I will be taking you around Boston and southern Maine, two places that I call second homes. I spent my college years in New England, mainly Massachusetts and Maine, and I want to share with you a snippet of the region, which has lots of history, culture, food, and nature. We will spend a week in Boston doing various activities, such as city sightseeing, visiting museums, sampling local food, and relaxing. However, aside from scheduled visits to places, there is no rigid structure to this trip. You can spend the time in between these scheduled activities doing more sightseeing, finding a cafe for a nice drink, catching up on rest, or simply walking around. The accommodation will be at a hotel within the city with shared spaces. There is a day trip up to Maine, about 2.5h driving, that you won't want to miss since it has its own offerings different from Boston. We will rent a car for the day to go there and back, so there should be at least a person or two with driving licenses that can rent a car and cover the rental fee. This is not included given that car rental fees fluctuate a lot, however, as a group, we will help split the cost for the fee. We will use Splitwise to divide costs such as the car rental fees and food. We will have a few more visits around Boston to local places (with time in between for self exploration), and we will end with a group dinner on the last night, similar to the first night dinner. The next day, we will check out of the hotel by 11AM and depending on everyone's departure times, we can grab lunch as a small group or on our own time. Here are the costs that are included: - Accommodation - Aquarium visit - Tea party museum visit - Duck boat tour - Dinner for the first and last night Some things to keep in mind to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone: - Respect one another - Clean up after yourselves - Keep an open mind, be willing to try something new (which you may end up enjoying!) - Flexibility - Lastly, have fun and enjoy your time with each other! If you want to learn more about what we'll be doing, feel free to send over a message, I'll get back to you with more information.

Day 1

1

Boston

Day 1

The largest city in New England, this will be our starting point. As you arrive throughout the day, feel free to rest, walk around, and acclimate yourself to your home for the next week. There are plenty of shops and cafes for a quick snack and coffee. We will enjoy a dinner together at a nice Italian restaurant in the city's Little Italy.

Day 1-2

2

Faneuil Hall Marketplace

Day 1-2

Here you will find lots of food but also plenty of souvenir shops. There is a lot, but there is something for everyone. See local performers as well and listen to great local music. You can also check out nearby attractions. Be ready to send some time here. We will have breakfast together and make...

Day 2-3

3

Old Port

Day 2-3

We will drive up to Portland, Maine's old port, the section of the city with lots of restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. The ocean is just a few steps away, so you can go and enjoy a local lobster or just sit by the ocean and relax. We will grab lunch here and enjoy the atmosphere.

4

Day 3-4

4

Cape Elizabeth

Day 3-4

Afterwards, we will take a short drive over to Cape Elizabeth, where we will see its iconic lighthouse that you can find on the state's postcards and promotional materials. This is the perfect moment for some photos and relaxation by the ocean. Depending on the mood, we can then make our way to Boston or spend more time here.

5

Day 4-5

5

New England Aquarium

Day 4-5

This is among the best aquariums in the region. There is plenty of diversity in the animals you can see here, ranging from penguins, fish, seals, and jellyfish. This is a fairly open day, so you can grab breakfast/lunch at your own time and go around the city. Plan to meet at the Quincy Market (the marketplace from a few days ago) around mid-afternoon so we can make the short walk over to the aquarium.

6

Day 5-6

6

Boston Harbor

Day 5-6

Along the harbor you will see many relics and ships from 18th and 19th century America. We will stop at the Boston Tea Party museum, which offers insight into the early days of America and what would come after. This day is pretty open, we will go here after breakfast, have a day to ourselves, and then reconvene in the evening.

7

Day 6-7

7

Frog Pond

Day 6-7

This is the main park of the city if you want to take a stroll, destress for a bit, or get some exercise in. We will walk around the park to take a break from the busy city life, and afterwards, you can continue with your adventures around the city (or in the park if you choose to). As this is the last night together, we will go and have dinner at a nice place.

8

Day 7

8

Boston Logan International Airport

Day 7

The hardest part is always leaving. Because we will have different departure times, each of you can check out at the appropriate time so you can get to the airport on time. You can use your city transportation pass to catch a bus/metro line to the airport. Hotel checkout time is at 11AM, and if your flight is in the evening, you're free to stick around Boston for a few more hours!

Hi! I am Larry, and I am from the US🇺🇸. I have also lived in Switzerland🇨🇭 and traveled extensively around Europe, where I developed a strong liking for travel, cultural immersion, and learning about local history. I find it important to have moments during the day to unwind and recharge, which is why I aim for a good balance of the city and nature. I must also always have a sample of the local foods (particularly chocolates!), drinks, and nature, and I am ready to share these moments for all of us to appreciate.
