Guided trip
Hi, my name is Marta, and I am inviting you to the city where I was born, and I live: BOLOGNA! Bologna is a city built in the middle age. The city center is one of the most well-preserved medieval spot of all Italy, with its several towers, squares, narrow streets and a unique atmosphere. Bologna is also the Italian capital of food, since it is here that lasagna and tortellini were born. And how not to mention the meat sauce that is globally known simply as "bolognese sauce"? During your trip here you will visit amazing cultural spots, eat delicious food, and you will have me, a truly bolognese lady that can tell you all the little, hidden gems of the city. Bologna is called the "Fat, Red and acculturated City" Fat for its amazing food, Red because of the color of the walls, acculturated thanks to its University! I will wait for you at the airport (Marconi Airport, the only one in Bologna). Be sure to arrive before 11 am, so we will have time to visit the city in the afternoon. The price includes: - Accommodation (shared) - Bus from/to the airport - Two Towers entrance-fee You will stay in an apartment or hotel in the city center, shared room. Please contact me if you need a single room, so I can calculate the extra cost. I plan to be with you all day, the idea is to really have a full immersion in the vibrant life of the city and get the best it has to offer. Since Bologna University is one of the most popular in Italy, you will see tons of bars, pubs, food shops targeting college students. The nightlife is very funny as well, I will give you some hints if you want to party!

Trip Itinerary
1

Basilica di San Petronio

Day 1-2
I will wait for you at the airport (Marconi Airport, the only one in Bologna). Be sure to arrive before 11, so we will have time to visit the city in the afternoon. Ideally, we could visit: - Piazza Maggiore, the main square - San Petronio, the main church - The old markets, where you will see stores selling prosciutto and other different kinds of ham and sausages. I will explain you about the local food, and we can decide to have an aperitivo together! We will visit the inside of the main Church of Bologna, checking the fresco with catholic stories. The history of San Petronio is very peculiar because originally was designed to be the biggest church of the whole Christianity. But when the Pope heard it, stopped the project since he was afraid that Rome could lose its predominantly role.
2

Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca

Day 2-3
On day two we will go trekking to San Luca Church under the world's longest arcade (it's about 4 km one way, some steps could be quite steep so don't forget sporty shoes) Bologna has always been proud and devoted and its population invested in building this long arcade that connect the city center to the Sanctuary. In the Sanctuary is venerated the image of a Holy Mary that is known to be able to bring rain! We will have the opportunity to visit the dome, climbing a narrow spiral staircase. The experience is called "San Luca Sky experience" and will give you the possibility to see beautiful views of the city and its surroundings.
3

Two Towers

Day 3
On the second day, I will bring you to one of the oldest coffee shop in town to have a fantastic cappuccino! We will also see: - The 7 churches of Santo Stefano - Climb the 2 Towers - San Domenico - The Jewish Ghetto - The Hidden Chanels It is always fun to climb one of the 2 Towers of Bologna. It will not be easy, but the view from the top will reward your efforts! Be ready for dozens of steps inside a medieval tower that used to be the house of a rich local family.
4

Bologna

Day 3-4
The day of your flight back, we can have a walk in the city center to buy the last souvenirs, drink an incredible cappuccino and plan your next trip! We can just get lost among the narrow streets and enjoy the city with its artists, shops, students and true Italian life.
