Guided trip
Hola! or, as we'll say in Sweden, Hej! My name is Alfonso, and even though I come from the warm and sunny Spain I invite you to join me in an unforgettable adventure all the way up in the Arctic Circle after being exploring the area for three weeks on my own this autumn. I'm a professional tour leader and licensed International Mountain Leader. I've always been an outdoors lover... hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing, canyoning, alpine skiing, mountain biking, surfing, and I could go on and on with a list of my passions. All of them combine to perfection with my big love for traveling, and that's what I've been doing the past few years. working as a mountain guide all the way from Nepal to the great National Parks of the Canadian Rockies and US National Parks before heading way south to explore the ends of the earth in Patagonia. Enough of introducing myself... we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other up there! Discover the beauty of this amazing snow covered world over the Arctic Circle and the interesting culture of its native people, the Samis. Hike trough birch forests in search of mooses and reindeers, snowmobile through frozen lakes to reach a hotel completely made of ice, relax with the heat of a traditional sauna... All this under the magical spectacle of the aurora borealis shining bright on the sky. What's Included?? - Northern Lights hunting every night in Kiruna. - Abisko National Park visit. - Guided snow hikes every day (snowshoeing or cross country skiing). - Lapland wildlife safari. - "Take your own pictures of the aurora!" tutorial. - "Ice Yoga" class over the frozen lake. - International Mountain Leader (UIMLA) and aurora boreal specialist tour guide (myself). - Transport to/from all included activities and between all destinations - Accommodation: Hostel in Stockholm (2 nts), Cabin in the forest with sauna over the frozen lake (4 nts). - Transportation: night train Stockholm-Kiruna, rental car(s) in Kiruna.

Stockholm

Day 1-4
Welcome to Sweden! First couple of days to get to know each other roaming around this beautiful Scandinavian city exploring its vibrant neighborhoods, cobblestoned streets, small cafes, traditional restaurants and one of the biggest art museums in the world found in the city's subway system. After spending our first night in a hostel in the heart of the city it's time to move north on the second with an overnight train. Fall asleep in the city, wake up in the Arctic Circle!
2

Kiruna

Day 4-8
After crossing the whole country we arrive the way up to the northernmost city of Sweden, our base for our next five days (four nights) from where start our northern lights hunting every night and we're gonna stay in the best place to do so... Camp Alta (https://campalta.net/) is a beautiful camping in the middle of the Arctic Forest on the shore of a frozen lake, check out their website and fall in love with what's gonna be our cozy cabin and its great sauna with a n ice hole inside! With our rental cars we'll be able to move around to explore the beauty of Lapland but even in the camping there's plenty of great activities we can choose to do: - Guided cross country skiing excursion (included). - Ice fishing (included). - Ice yoga (included if you dare). - Snowmobile tour- 1600 SEK (includes entrance the Jukkasjarvi Ice Hotel). - Dogsledding tour- 1500 SEK. *Dogsledding and snowmobile tours include winter clothing overalls, you can also rent them for your whole stay in the camping.

Abisko National Park

Day 8
Only an hour away this is the place where we'll most likely end up every night on our aurora hunting excursions in case there are clouds over Kiruna thanks to the micro-climate found there also know as the Abisko blue hole. Not only during the night is Abisko the place to be and that's why we'll spend a whole day over there exploring its mountains ,frozen lakes and waterfalls hiking through its beautiful birch forests.
4

Jukkasjärvi Icehotel

Day 8
Even the outside of this unique hotel is well worth a visit, made entirely with ice and right by a wide river its location is outstanding. To venture inside the ice world of rooms and corridors we can pay the entrance once there (349 SEK) or we can opt for the adrenaline lovers option and reach it after crossing the forest and the frozen river driving our own snowmobile straight from our cabin!
5

Nikkaluokta

Day 8
The road that gets to this old Sami settlement is gonna be the scenario of our winter wildlife safari so keep your eyes opened and expect a lot of stops to come back home with great pictures of the majestic animals of the Arctic Circle as the moose, the reindeer or, being very very lucky, the fast and shy arctic fox. If the weather is good enough there's and extra surprise this day!
