Trip Itinerary

Madrid
Day 1
The capital of Spain, the third largest in Western Europe, our trip starts here. Previous to our trip you can discover this city at your own pace. Keep in mind its cultural life with some of the best museums in the continent such as El Prado or Reina Sofia. Do not forget its nightlife with many bars and clubs. We leave the capital and head south-west on a comfortable ride by bus until we reach Jaraiz de la Vera for a quick stop before continuing to Yuste where we visit the monastery-palace where the emperor Charles V spent his last days. We also explore the picturesque village of Yuste before we continue to Plasencia.

Plasencia
Day 1-2
We take a walking tour to admire this town of Plasencia before we continue to Monfragüe National Park to see wildlife and enjoy views. The town of Trujillo is nearby and wrapped in time. The conqueror of the Inca empire was born here and we want to discover that conquest. Orientation walk and break before we continue to Cáceres. There will be time to make the most of this enchanting city that serves as a movie set often. Games of Thrones was shot here among other series like Isabelle. A local will guide us here.

Cáceres
Day 2-3
A short drive will take us to Mérida, the capital of Extremadura. A truly Roman city we want to give you the chance to explore all its monuments including the National Roman museum, the best of its kind in the country or walk on the two thousand years old bridge. But, not all is Roman here. You may want to check out the Moorish fortress or the Visigoth museum.

Mérida
Day 3-4
We leave Mérida this morning and head south to Sevilla with a stop in Zafra. This is a very refreshing white town, the antechamber of what is coming up in Andalucía. Once the headquarter of the Duke of Feria we are in the land of the Iberian pig and robust red wines. So the plan here is to visit a winery to taste both. Nerby Sevilla will embrace us in her delightful beauty. Orientation walk once we settle.

Seville
Day 4-6
Full day to enjoy Sevilla. Morning guided tour of Sevilla with a professional guide visiting its magnificent gothic cathedral. A free afternoon is ahead of us to enjoy the charms of this city. There will be suggestions for afternoon/evening options as well as where to find the most appealing restaurants and shops.

Seville
Day 6
We leave the capital of Andalucía and head east towards Córdoba and Granada. At Córdoba we shall visit its impressive Mosque-cathedral along with its Jewish quarter. Our guided tour is expected to last up to lunch hours. We then continue to magical Granada, the last Moorish kingdom in Spain with its unmissable Alhambra palace. Granada is a very vibrant city with a very large and important student population that adds liveliness to its always bustling down town area. Granada is also famous for its tapas bars. A walking tour of the Albaycin quarter is programmed for this evening with an option of a flamenco show in the gypsy´s caves.

Granada
Day 6-7
A guided visit to the Alhambra palace is sheduled this morning. We shall continue to Málaga this afternoon. We shall reach the Mediterranean sea and land in the capital of Costa del Sol, the city where Pablo Picasso was born, this 2023 commemorating 50 years of his death. An orientation walk is expected to get familiar with this delightful city.

Málaga
Day 7-8
With a guided visit of Picasso museum and a farewell lunch we finish this memorable trip of Extremadura and Andalucía, two sister regions with much in common. Two strong pilars in past and present Spain.
