Hello Mountain Lovers! In 2019 me and my friends visited the mountains around Cortina d'Ampezzo, we did some hard via ferratas and e-mtb tours. We spent some unforgettable days there, and I was thinking how nice it would be to go back with others, to see a bit more of the area, to relax in the alpine meadows of Seceda, to swim and paddle in the cool waters of Lago di Braies, and to indulge in some Italian cuisine and take some really good photos. If you're thinking about a trip like this, come with me, I'll organise everything and I know the area. As the Dolomites has so many exciting adventures, I've chosen the ones I think are the best, but the final itinerary will be tailored to the needs of the team and the current weather. If you like via ferratas, or if you just want to try it, you're in the right place. The via ferratas require good physical fitness and no dizziness, the other activities are open to anyone. Equipment will be discussed with everyone individually, but you will definitely need: fully waterproof and warm clothing and boots, backpack, water skis. Anyone who has their own via ferrata kit should bring it, or it can be hired locally. Accommodation will be in Cortina d'Ampezzo in a spacious (85 m2), 3 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. Additional facilities: wi-fi, washing machine, dishwasher. Rooms: 1 room with 1 bunk bed for 2 persons 1 room with 1 double bed for 2 persons 1 room with 1 double bed for 2 persons The price includes: - 24/7 costumer support of JMT - Secure payment provided by Stripe - The price of the accommodation - 1 car rental and full insurance - The TripLeader-fee - Allianz travel insurance for residence in Germany and Austria Not included in the price: Accommodation security deposit, 200 EUR in cash Tourist tax 1 EUR / person / night The cost of petrol Motorway, road tolls, parking fees Boat trip on the Lago di Braies Rental of the via ferrata set The fee of the cable cars The cost of meals If more than four people joins the trip we require an additional rented car, because renting a small bus is ridiculously expensive compare to renting 2 small cars, this has additional costs. See you soon!

Treviso Airport

Tag 1
Arrival We'll meet at the Treviso Airport, the exact location and time will be agreed later. We rent a car there, then we drive approx. 2 hours to reach the city of Cortina d'Ampezzo, where our accommodation is for the rest of the tour. If we have enough time, and the group has a desire to stop on the way to Cortina, we can visit a beautiful lake called Lago di Santa Croce, where we can have a swim a little or go for a snack at a local bar. If we don't have the time, we can drop by this place on the way back, but it obviously depends on when you're heading home. It is recommended to buy some food on the way, because all of the supermarkets close by 8 p.m. at Cortina.

Cortina d'Ampezzo

Tag 1-2
The apartment has scenic mountain views, it is surrounded by green fields and there is a river nearby. It has free WiFi and free private parking. Set 1,9 km from the downtown of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The property offers a terrace, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, bed linen, towels, a flat-screen TV, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a balcony.
3

Tofana di Mezzo

Tag 2-3
Next day we will visit the summit of Tofana di Mezzo with a cable car starting from the city of Cortina. Tofana di Mezzo (3244 m) is the highest peak of the Tofanas and the 3rd highest peak of the whole Dolomites. Only Marmolada (3344 m) and Antelao (3264 m) are higher. Close to the summit there is a bar with breathtaking panoramic views over several valleys. You can have a unique breakfast there, if you want. If the weather permits, I recommend the terrace, but the indoor dining room is also very welcoming. The prices are incredibly fair and the food is quality. Depending on the needs and experience of the team, we will either take the same cable car down the mountain as we came up, or do the via ferrata Formenton. The route of the ferrata will take us down the neighbouring peak of Tofana di Dentro (3238 m) to the midway station, from where we will take the cable car to Cortina in the afternoon. The ferrata is 1340 m long and the difficulty is B/C, but mostly A, so beginners can do it, but don't be afraid of heights, the time from the summit to the central station is 4 hours 40 minutes.

Pragser Wildsee

Tag 3
Our next destination is the famous lake of Lago di Braies (aka Pragser Wildsee). We start early in the morning by car (1 hour) to avoid the big crouds. No trip to the Dolomites is complete without visiting this place. I’ve seen a lot of mountain lakes during my travels, but this one is pretty spectacular! It has become a popular Instagram photography spot. You can hike around the lake, taking in different views of the mountains above, or rent a row-boat. The boat rental cost 25 EUR for one hour, 15 EUR every 30 minutes after that.
5

Lago Sorapis

Tag 3-4
In the afternoon we do a moderate 2 hours hike (6 km, elevation gain 318 m) to Lake Sorapis. It could easily compete in the top 10 most picturesque glacier lakes in the world. The water has a special opal-turquoise color that it almost looks too beautiful to be real. This colour is created by the fine rock dust coming by the meltwater of the nearby glacier. There is a mountain hut (Rifugio Vandelli) close to the lake where you can eat and drink.
6

Seceda Ridgeline

Tag 4-5
This day we'll travel 1,5 hours (64 km) by car to visit the Alpe di Seceda. This mountain ridge located on the sunny side of Val Gardena, and it part of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage. From the Seceda summit (2400m) you can enjoy a 360 degree panoramic view of the Dolomites and of all the mountains in South Tyrol - from Ortles to Großglockner. You can admire the breathtaking peaks of the nearby Dolomites, of course: from the Tofane, the Sciliar and the Sella Massif to the Sassolungo and the "pearl" of the Dolomites, the "Marmolada". We hike 1,5 hours (3,3 km) to the chairlift, which takes to the top of the ridge. We can walk down backwards (2,5 km - 50 min), or just take chairlift on the return. The chairlift costs 12 EUR one way, the return ticket costs 19 EUR. If you don't want to hike there is a possibility to go by cable car, the return ticket costs 37 EUR. There are some restaurants on the top, or we can have a picnic in the green alpine meadows.

Three peaks of Lavaredo

Tag 5-6
We drive 40 minutes (25 km) from Cortina to reach the parkplace close the Rifugio Auronzo. This route is a very steep toll road (costs 30 EUR) which takes us above 2000 meters. The Three Peaks of Lavaredo are the undisputed symbol of the Dolomites and have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Three Peaks, better known as Tre Cime di Lavaredo in Italian or Drei Zinnen in German. The highest of the Three Peaks is Cima Grande (Big Peak), raising at an altitude of 2,999 meters above sea level. We walk around the three peaks about 1,5 hours (4,7 km) to reach Rifugio Locatelli, where the real adventure begins. Depending on the needs and experience of the team we can do the Via Ferrata de Luca Innerkofler which is moderate ferrata (difficulty B/C). The ferrata is a great summit traverse on a World War path named after a famous Dolomite climber, which at the beginning climbs several hundred meters in the "Galleria Paterna" through the interior of the mountain (partly pitch dark tunnels, headlamps are useful). It takes 2,5 hours (6,1 km) to get back to our car. If you are not tired enough, you can walk 4 km there and back (90 min) to visit the Cadini di Misurina viewpoint. Yes, you can stand there were the man in the middle of the picture is, and take some scenic picture of peaks of Mordor. :)

Treviso Airport

Tag 6
We have to leave our flat by 10 am, and we will drive back to Treviso Airport. As I mentioned before, there is an opportunity to stop and take a break at a lake called Lago di Santa Croce, where we can have a swim a little or go for a snack at a local bar.
